y'know, I have some fairly newb questions.
How do you tear down a building?
How do you move your capital?

Here you go
->tear down: right click on the building's picture, and choose the demolition button in the bottom left. You'll get a part refund, too.
->reset capital: go to the city screen, click 'settlement details' in the bottom left and then in the new screen that'll open you'll see a 'set as capital' button, again bottom left.
And it seems that the temple thing was very much the problem. You live and learn.

Yup, thats it Ox. I love the sound that comes out of the speakers when you tear down a building.

Good god, I'm now some twenty turns on in the game from my last post and I haven't advanced one bit. I just succeed in fending off the attacks of the Brits and the Gauls. On the Dacian front things are going better, with the first Berserkers being fielded. Very curious to see them in action. My only general at the Dacian front is my Faction leader though, and he's getting on a bit by now. Great hero though. I hope he'll take another region or two before he snuffs it.
On the western front things are in a complete stalemate. The Brits and the Gauls throw huge armies at me in turn, I defeat them (barely) and will just have recovered in time to fend off the next attack. There seems no way to break through. It'll need some daring strategic thinking, and more units than I can pay at this time.
Economy is a key word for barbarian tribes, and I'm having a hard time building one (especially at VH/VH I might add) But with some ports going into use in the next few turns, I really hope to gain some more financial breathing space, maybe to enroll some night stalkers and chosen axemen. And dogs of course, they're crucial in taking out enemy archers and cavalry.
To be continued, with pics.

Hehe...I hope the Egyptians conquer Italy and will come to kick your ass.
@Derf: yeah, the sounds is fun. I've tore down buildings just for the sound.
Things going fine now, economy is flourishing, Gauls are a non-factor and Conquered Spain and France completely. Only the Germanians are being a bitch any longer, in the east. But I can take 'em...so I'm re-structuring things and distributing reinforcements where needed. I'm planning to go South to N-Africa next, and perhaps also force the Germanians into a ceasfire and a trade pact too. Bleh.

Head hurler time I've grown very fond of these guys...they're very fast, their range (head ) attack is effective, and they can fight great melee too if necessary. But most of all: the thrown heads instill fear in the enemy troops...2-3 salvos of heads can make most barbarian infantry panic and rout.

There something about wardoggies that makes them so photogenic.
And thats just damn typical of standard bearers, even in a party theyre emotionless party-poopers.

lol, head hurleres. How hilarious. I want some. :p
As an update to my game, I'm moving into France finally. I own all of Italy now and am just reconquering some towns (most of which I intentionally lost so I could exterminate them). I don't have any major obstacles to me power other than my stupid empire hurting itself....I'm still losing money every turn, but between all the genocide I've managed to keep a positive cash balance. I'm hoping this mass distribution of governors will help. And the massive lowering of population, of course. heheh...I exterminated 16,000 people when I retook Rome. muhahaha. I'm about to have 3 armies rampage through spain, at which point I'll move those troops to me front lines in the Macedonian area. I already have 2 armies in Macedon, and 1 absorbing Dacia's armies.
This game's actually getting frustrating. It sucks to own virtually half the world and not be able to turn a profit. I couldn't even afford to refit my armies after battles for awhile. Then again, I pay 45,000 dinarii per turn in army upkeep.

Yeh Satis that was the same thing with Medieval Total War. You would think that as you start dominating, things get easier. Well, they dont. You get a whole new set of problem (which i think in MTW were more severe).
BTW, what kind of fighting system do you use? Do you just slap together as many soldiers as possible and put em in an army? Or do you select them carefull and perhaps have a suporting armuy?

nah, I pretty much just slap together an army. I usually try to keep to the system that's been most effective to me (~4 spearmen as a wall, lots of archers, a few unit of cavalry for mobility, some axemen/night raiders for hacking) but I'll just run together people into an army at times. I have an army that's half cavalry kicking serious ass in France right now. I also have an army that's mostly screaming womena ... that one kicks butt too.
The enemy aren't throwing large enough armies at me for me to have to worry abotu supporting armies. Even in really bad situations, I can typically kill off 2000 or their men to 400 of mine. I can live with that. It's just slow going with the cash crunch I have.
The funny thing is I never ran into this with Brutii. I had 600,000+ dinarii when I won the game the first time around.

yea, probably. The fact I get very little income from ports. I bet if I were to take more of the really busy mediterranean ports I wouldn't be so badly off. But that damn mediterranean is overrun with ships from other nations. I'd get owned with my crappy little boats.
