I've given it a rest..because of HD space (for now, changing that in a week) and the fact that I finished it twice and that i'm only playing 2 games at a time instead of 4 during exam period. Hehehe. ;)

But yeah, cool that you guys got the game too now...keep us updated. That means you too Shiny, been too long since we've seen you! ;)

That sucks. :( Can't you like, trick her? Tell her it's a SWG forum for refined Texan cowgirls with insane partners.

lol...she doesn't read the SWG forums either. In fact, she doesn't read forums at all, I don't think. :p I'll see if I can con her into posting, though...maybe I'll promise her a bottle of Patron silver for every 500 posts. :)

cool :D V:TM is one of the best and most immersive RPG universes, so I bet it's fun reading. The quality of the writing, however, is often a bit lacking in books like that. :( (anyone remember the novel you got when you first bought baldur's gate 2 a long time ago? jesus christ that was AWFUL, even my pet fish could write a better novel...yeah, fish, you heard me :P )

But erh, anyway, let us know if you find out anything new yeah..;and mm, sounds like that's a surefire plan Satis. :)

well, finished it :D played as a gangrel, sided with the anarchs.

"BOOM! love jack" hehe.

*******spoilers*****************

man, that sheriff was a bitch when it changed, was a pain when those gangrels in war form popped up to help  still, pulled the same trick on them, nice to deal out 40+ damage with one hit using the claws :D 4 hits = dead ventrue.

RE the ending, nicely done, shows you how much of a puppet you've been all along. would have been nice to have got some congrats from the anarchs though. :?

all in all great game, now i want either an expansion or another V:TM game please.

---------------------

I wonder, did you take the advice and refrained from opening the sarcophagus? ;) I actually did, I walked away and let Lacroix have a dynamite sandwich, but a friend of mine (who did open it) refuses to believe that I didn't. (with the idea of there being a super-endfight or something) But I guess I'm smarter/a better RPG-player than him. hehe. :)

And yeah, the ending was awesome in that you suddenly realize that not a single thing you did was really your call...the elder vampires (ie Jack) used you all along. And the explosives had been in the sarcophagus ever since you looked to steal it from the museum, too. You crippled the Sabbat for him (which didn't attack you, befoe you went and blew up their warehouse  ), wiped out the head of the Camarilla in LA AND destroyed the leader of the Kue-jin and a large part of their operations. I mean, how's that for dirty work. ;) Jack is the man. And I love it, when you play it again, that all these references to the elder vampires pulling the strings become suddenly véry clear. (oa Bertram Tung makes a few remarks on that)

Also, did you speak to the seeer on the beach in Santa Monica at the start? She mentions stuff like

"I see a man...why is he smiling?", referring to 'Smiling Jack'
"the father...is that the father behind him?" referring to Caine standing behind Jack at the end, of course

and lots more...it's great. If you play as a Malkavian you'll make allusions to it yourself. 'Jack-put-of-the-box' etc. :) That being said, while we're waiting for an expansion try playing Malkavian. They have a completely different dialogueset, pretty neat.

Erh, sorry...felt the love for the game coming up again. ;)

********************spoilers...ish..********************

yeah, after 4 odd warnings to NOT open it, even if it felt so wrong to leave the key, i left him to it. look on his face was priceless :D (when beckett warns you not to open it, did you get the hints that its not actually beckett? aparrently malk's make even more references to it in their convo's)

played a few games up to different points (the malks when you get on the ship cant bullshit that cop at all  ), one as a female malk, she refers to lacroix as the 'jester prince' and struass as the 'warlock king'
. the malk insight is very interesting idd. i'll probably go through playing each, just to see the difference.

by the way, the book i read makes reference to lacroix buying it, nines has a v small reference and jack buys it. which sucks.

anyhoo, theirs a lost city with a barrier no caine born can cross back through, and beckett brings it down to get a trapped friend out, blah, to cut a long story short, CAINE was inside, although he called himself kapaneous, at the end of the story he reveals his true self and says:

basically, he's weary of the way his children waste their existence, hid himself away for 600 years (since 1401), and sent his spirit out to communicate with a rare few who could see him in that form (though this could mean taking someone over, in line with the taxi driver side of it). he was just waiting the time out until gehenna came about.

this gives more weight to the taxi driver = caine to me. there are enough references after all.

anyhoo, aftr gehenna, their are very few elders left. beckett being one of them.

erm..that was a bit random, but anymore thoughts? interesting story for me

:)

Hehe, that's awesome...didn't know that. Straus is idd the real power behind the camarilla, with Lacroix being more of a young fool (well, if you can call 200 years young  ). ;)

Cool that you didn't open it either, but what do you mean about it not being Beckett with the final warning? Is it Caine, or Ming Xiao (again ;))? Cos I didn't catch the references. :(

Tnx for clearing up on the Caine thing...I was wondering where Caine learned to drive a can after 600 years, or why he was acting as a cabbie all the time, but it makes a LOT more sense when he can take over ppl, haha. Another thing: the cabbie's aura towards the end (with Auspex discipline) is VERY bright, which was already an indication that he's..special. ;)

As far as races go...i've thought about playing Gangrel because they seem extremely ferocious fighters in melee with their Protean and Potence stuff. My Nosferatu had potence and man, that was hard-core ;) I strongly recommend playing them too btw...the invisibility-thing is mighty cool, same thing for their lair aye..."oh, they're around, you just don't see them..." with all the voices whispering in the darkness. Neat.

I attached two pics of malkavian speech, from a mate of mine. One about the voermann sisters (you'll see what they call them ;) )and one that's less clear. lol. Maybe you know what the "dark shadow" and the "curious hare" are meant to be, hehe...the 'pillar ablaze' is obvious of course. Oh, and I love it that they call Mercurio 'the fleet-footed God' too. :)

I hope they come out with a patch nerfing the game specs a bit, and might play it again soon. As a Malk.

RE beckett, in the convo there is a line which says something like 'you seem..different', and i haven't seem that line for the malks myself but with the insight you seem to make an even bigger deal about it. could well be caine, doubt it was ming, the convo at that point is right before you go to whoop her ass.

gangrels are pretty mean, they dont get potence though, they get fortitude (VERY useful), animalism and protean. a gangrel in war form has very damaging claws and a nice bonus to stamina and strength. only problem is that you attack fairly slowly, but that form owns other vamps. like i said, 3-4 hits max. :D

how did you find playing a nos? was it difficult having to use the sewers, etc and did it rule out a few missions? the nos do seem strong though, you'd save a lot of xp by not being able to seduce, etc so no need to put points into that.

btw, i know auphex is useful for hacking and shooting but is that all it has to offer? ah..also inspection..

SPOILER, still :)

Cool about Beckett, now you mention it...hehe. Playing as a Nosferatu was fun yeah..like you said, looks or charms aren't gonna help you anymore so you're left with fewer, but not less effective, ways of solving things. :) Obfuscate, for example, rocks. Nothing cooler than sneaking into an appartement while completely invisible, setting up webcams in front of the inhabitants' noses, so to speak. Their inability to get out on the streets isn't too much of a problem, you very rarely get a masquerade violation from it and if you do there are enough ways to redeem it. But, for the coolness aspect and some practical matters you'll have to use the sewers. (for visiting Lacroix for example...he won't have deformed freak vamps walk throught the front door of his building  so you need to get in through the sewers. You also travel between areas through the sewers, not by cab) Some quests just aren't in the game for the Nos (the girl recognizing you in Hollywood), others are easy because of your appearance, and there's even a Nos-only quest. So it does make quite a difference. :)

Auspex, apart from temporarily raising those stats, also acts as a sort of night-vision (especially at higher lvls). And the fact that you can see ppl's aura's through walls and doors is exceedingly cool and useful, too. If you're a sneaking char. :) Oh, and the colour of their aura usually tells you something about them too. Enemy, friend, power etc.

Almost forgot to ask: what does fortitude do? I could look it up myselkf but I'm lazy

cool, gonna have to try a nos, i tried to do the webcam thing but just kept getting busted and gave up  is it true that their heavy armour is a gimp costume though?

fortitude is damage soak, when you have to get to the cab late on, the ventrue have it going, probably maxed, i stood there pumping these bastards full of lead...for hardly any damage.. :? stick level 5 on, good stamina and heavy armour + flak jacket = one very safe vampire.

Damn straight it is! :D

And taking damage has always been my problem with both the Toreador and Nosferatu...I never bothered spending points in stamina, but I was forced to at the end. Goddamn Stey Augs. The soak stuff made a world of difference so I can imagine it being extremely useful. Did you go animalistic a few times as a gangrel btw? it's awesome in enemy areas, aye? ;)
