 Monitor refreshing rate problem
Since I use XP/2k I could not play full screen games. The reason is simple: When I turn on the game, I see that monitor refreshing rate is 60Hz. I refuse to play in such conditions.
Through miscellaneous stories I come up to that I need omega drivers for my Asus Radeon 9550.
I have found and installed the thing but morhafucka (excuse me for the vocabular) don't know how to override the default frequention.
I think this is available for Direct Draw through DX tests but, sadly all games I play has only OpenGL support. (so, I'm stuck) Considering to put raw '98. (let not forget that official Radeon 9550 drivers for '98 and ME does not exist) Absurd situation.
So, the my question is: "how to set the default refreshing rate on 2k and xp?".

My laptop LCD monitor runs @ 60Hz, and i do notice a BIG difference in RR when i play on a CRT. Bah, but i put up with it because i have to.

60 hz is horrible. You should be playing at 75hz, or at least the highest you can play at. XP had an issue where it would play all games at 60hz, but SP1 I think fixed that.
Bleh, I googled it for about 5 minutes and couldn't find anything definitive. Maybe someone else has more patience.

@ ElvenBravo the great
My prob is refreshing rate during OpenGL/Direct 3D full screen. Not in std. win environment.
@derf
Would I have laptop I'd not care for the refreshing rate because LCD cannot hurt my eyes.
@ Sat
Don't know what to say. The first time I noticed that prob on the computers of other ppl. and sugessted them to search around, but they were not much bothered. They played (and still play @ 60Hz). I don't wish that. Trust me, I had a loong fuck with each part of all I have. I succeded to force refreshing rate only when I explicitely set it in my applications. Otherwise not. So, I'm half tempted to turn back ME with XP. Using two osses of the same class just suck.
As, for the SPs, I currently use the last: SP4 for 2k. And on the XP I used SP2 (installed after SP1) and had the same moth(a)fuck. Don't belive that's the problem.
I´ll continue to search beause situation is just absurd: to have one os where you can set refreshing rate but you don't have proper drivers and other one where you have everything but the accceptable refreshing rate. Keep me posted if you find some solution.

Done some tunes. Direct Draw and Direct 3D are now good puppies.
Still, OpenGL on the full screen force 60Hz.

The only thing I can do for OpenGL is forcing windowed mod, if it is available.

I read something somewhere about opengl being forced to 60hz. I didn't find any workarounds yet, though.
