So - is that fighter traitor, or key of the mission then? (I could just browse some Wkt but this is more fun)

Well i did mean the jumping part, cant really remember the quest you are talking about. But as far as i remember yes, some quests are uncompletable if you do not speak in the right order.

Just finished the main quest. Fucked the sucker. What now? Playing further? Installing expansions and mods? Some parts were pretty bore. No, it is enough I saw the game, it have great engine, great realization, great stat system nd all that. But, now blood runs faster through my veins when I think of BG. Haven't played it for three months. It's about time to finally obtain my cds who are 400km far.

BG is just the best.

Remind me... is that guy who can be found in the hills northeast of Suran?? I'm just thinking of the old days and considering to play the whole thing again.

I'm also playing this since i picked up the Xbox version thanks to the pevmiestah. Damn this game is cool. Didn't like it on the PC.

SOmeone do me a favour, get a screen shot of the water on the highest graphics you can set it?

It's just pev's in on the highest graphics and the graphics are poo, but on the Xbox they're sweet as. So wanted to check if it's the game or pev's PC.

How dare you diss any aspect of Morrowind? :P ;) I still find it very strange that a console could have better control than the original pc version, but I haven't played the console version so meh...it prolly depends on what you're used to, as well. Most console gamers aren't great at keyboard+mouse and vice versa. I know I can't make out heads or tails about most console controllers, for one. :)

If you're looking for a nice 'home' in Morrowind check out the mod at the bottom of the page http://www.deffeyes.com/morrowind/mods.html

A friend of mine made an even cooler lair, accessible through a hatch on the Balmora market square. He did a real nice job, with nice lighting, lots of containers, good decoration, even a complete alchemy set for the brewer types among us. (ie not me :P I cracked skulls, as usual). Not to mention a shrine in a little chrystal cave attached to it. :D

If you want to try it, just ask...I recommend it, and it's only a few kb iirc.

I'll check that link out once I posted this - Ox i'm on the Xbox version, and seen as i haven't (yet) modded my Xbox, I can't mod right now ;)

My biggest "beef" with this game is how lost I am. The start isn't to user friendly, except for basics on controls etc given by the loading screens. I often wonder about aimlessly failing to make heads or tails of what I'm doing, but I feel that could be fixed by a better journal.

But still, good game now that I can play it better, as I said, I think the game works better with the pad than with the Keyboard.

And Ox - I'm just as good with Keyboard and Mouse as I am with a Pad ;)

lol yeah me and the guys at work have all been into Morrowind again for the past few weeks. My problems with it are 1. the journal and 2. I have CRS (Chronic Restarting Syndrome) so I have a ton of low level chars... got my "Gonna do it all" char, my Mage, my Fighter, my Rogue and then just another random one too.

all good fun. I'll have to try to get used to xbox controls though I guess coz unless I can upgrade my pc i'll have to get Oblivion on that. So lets just hope I can get my PC upgraded ;) hehe. Then again Fable worked brilliantly on console and I reckon the controls will be much worse on the PC version later this year.

*pokes ox* Pack rats!

Pack rats are awesome! In fact all of Morrowind and the Elder Scrolls is awesome. And as far as the being lost goes, that's what the game is all about, imho...the feeling that you can go here and there by foot, regardless of this or that quest. It's glorious. If you want you can get over the Ghostfence really early in the game using a simple levitate spell or potion, but of course you'd get owned SO badly by the monsters there. Point is: it's cool that such curiosity actually pays off, even if it's lethal. :)

It makes for good RPG'ing too...if we were to be dropped in Morrowind like the main char was (arriving from another province of Vvardenfell), we'd be lost for where we are, who the factions of power are, where we could and couldn't go with regard to danger, etc. etc. I think it works perfectly. Problem is that most ppl aren't used to this kind of freedom and then struggle with it...I and others were lucky enough to have Daggerfall under my belt, which was basically the same but with a larger world in a SVGA bitmap environment. And the dungeons were huge each time and auto-regenerated. I'm pretty sure my, if I may say so, very good ability to remember where I came from in games (spatial awareness et al) stems for a large part from playing endless hours of Daggerfall dungeons when I was young(er).

As for the journal, yeah, it sucks. :) It should be updated if you got Bloodmoon tho. But try not to use your journal too often....just wander around through the vastness of Morrowind. The things you'll encounter...daedra shrines, hidden burial chambers with a vampire that made it its home lurching at your low-lvl neck (;) ), assassin guilds accessable through hidden hatches in the sewers, treasury rooms filled with goodness...gotta love it.

EDIT: oh and the ash storms within the Ghostfence are just awesome. Think and red, really heroic.

I agree wholeheartedly. Sadly, I've yet to complete the game. I was sidetracked first by Max Payne 2 (the genius of the hole), then by the Persistent worlds of NWN and then by Kotor I & II. But now all that is behind me, it's time to show those Dark Elves that the Kajiit is Da Bozz! Damn, I really feel like playing it right now.

BTW, Oblivion is just looking too good to be true. And with my comp specs, it probably will be.

Er.. I wasn't in Dagoth Ur at level 4... honest. I killed some Dagoth Ordas (Pev tells me the last name, I'd forgotton) and got some key, which led me to the Keening, then I carried on and went to the center of the volcano.

Got killed by something that I couldn't see what it was, but did fairly well if you ask me. (I had to jump in to the volcano, I couldn't resist) and I didn't get over it, I just went through the gate... Pressed the button and hey presto.

Anyway, I'm back on the story track now, I hope.

About being lost in the game - I get that that is the point, but I've come to a few quests that say "go here" and I'm just like... where? Which is kind of annoying. But it does work for the game, though I prefer the story route to be quite obvious, with plenty of exploration aside from that. (Think SC:CT and you get close to what I like, except even though that has a lot of "freedom" it's not the kind I really mean. I like to be able to go do things in the order I want, but that's the best example I can think of right now)

hehe I'm with you on the spatial thing ox... in fact half the time if I'm watching mole play a game, I have to tell him where that button was coz he has no clue! ;)

Yep, curiosity does indeed pay off well. Went exploring last night, started level 3 ended up level 8. By level 6 I already had Daedric Shield (armour 122), Daedric Longsword, Ebony Longsword, all the soul gems from Galbedirs desk in balmora mages guild (well i do it with every character, I like enchanting stuff!), a belt that gives me constant fortify longblade 5pts (and 3 other belts identical for marksman, axe and medium armour), a few different enchanted rings and amulets, 11k gold, Azuras Star and a full set of steel armour. And none was stolen, just stumbled across cool places. Well... Azuras star I knew what you had to do, just wasn't certain of where but I found that easily enough.

The 4 belts and the Daedric Longsword I found under Vivec in some secret Shrine thing whilst attempting to complete a mission for the Fighters Guild. Stumbled across some evil person trying to kill me, darted through a 'loading' door thinking it would take me back up to the canalworks... but it was a shrine with 3 horrible men in there. Somehow managed to take them out (took a few goes) and it was well worth it!

er anyway I love the hugeness of the game, I just hate how the journal isn't exactly very obvious as to which quest is what. Like... I'd like some kinda sorting perhaps... you know how you have the 'options' to view the different letters? Do something like that but you can choose to see "Morrowind", "Bloodmoon", "Tribunal", "Fighters Guild", "Miscellaneous (for those random people you just come across)" or something just so you don't waste time doing hundreds of side quests when you only want to do the story ones.

The biggest thing missing from the journal is the style of BG, the done and not done side of things.
