Well, I played it and it's a great game, prolly the most in-depth of the infinity engine-series. However, it looks very pixelized these days with a crappy max resolution. So it'll depend on how bad you'll want to try to overcome it's age. Otherwise, solid game.

I played it for 10 minutes. Then it would crash. There was a problem with the CD.
1st 10 minute impression? = WARPED ASS GAME (in a good way).
Its got good reviews aswell. Oh and about 4 CD's.

I have played it once. I liked it.
Only problem I had was constant requesting CDs. I.e. every time when I opened the list of creatures, my CDROM started fucking with CD. Annoying. I could not solve it with some virtual CD because I could not exit (without closing the game) from the game nor game had windowed mod so - I could not change CD. There might be some patch or newer version, I don't know. I just deleted it after 26hrs of non-stop playing.
Btw, how much it cost now, tyranus?

If you can get it killer cheap, go for it. Its well worth its reputation. Yes i agre the graphics are crappy but the game was built when the story and gameplay was nr1 and graphics came in 2nd. Great classic.

shame, because it looks like a really interesting game. might try somewhere else.

30 quid?! Hehe, damn right you should look elsewhere. I think I picked it up for less than 5€. (granted, it was a bank sale of some guy who bankrupted )

heh...you resurrected a 5 year old thread.
I've never played it either, but my graphics whoreism probably wouldn't allow me to enjoy it properly. Maybe someone'll do a remake.
I kinda wish someone would go back and redo some of the great classics of gaming. It happens with movies... I don't see why it can't happen with games.

Actually, they're already doing that:
http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/vi ... ies-Remake
With Telltale at the helm of the remake, this should be good.
Btw Satis, there are some very good high-res mods out for Planescape torment. Some areas of the game look like they were originally designed for much better resolutions and are still great. I think the mention of these mods is one of the reasons Derf was won over by the idea.

I had a similar error. It has to do with the folder structure of your install. Lemme find it...
Here we go:
 | | | | Quote: - Installation: 1. First of all you should make a full install of Planescape Torment. You can find instructions on how to do this, here2. Install Bigg's Widescreen Mod with either a 1280x800, a 1280x720, a 1280x768 or a 1280x1024 resolution. 3. Extract the rar archive into your game directory. 4. Run Setup-PST-Widescreen-UI.exe 5. Choose the type of font you want the UI installed with. The Installer will check automatically if the Widescreen mod is installed with a supported resolution. If it finds one of these resolutions installed then it will proceed and install the corresponding UI. If it doesn't find a desired resolution then it will abort. You can easily uninstall the mod by running the .exe again and choosing the [U]ninstall option. Afterwards, to completely remove all components, delete the PST-Widescreen-UI folder, the Setup-PST-Widescreen-UI.exe and the Setup-PST-Widescreen-UI.tp2 file. Always uninstall the old version if you are to install a new one. | | | | |
It's the first step, the "full install" I linked to, that made it not want to work with me at first (and then it was solved by following those steps). With a bit of luck that's your only problem.
Why on earth were you trying a 640x480 install in that error report anyway? Because y'know, that kinda beats the point of using a wide screen mod.

yeah, i think i did everything right. This is my torment.ini file. It doesnt have anything referring to "disk", so i used the "ALIAS" section instead...
I'm tempted to reinstall the entire thing and try again.
