Finally a real release date....HL2 here I come. Let's hope it's also 16 november in Belgium, not just the US and UK.

pffft, whatever. btw, my last post was a direct quote, not my own 'unbridled excitement'...because...well....I don't really care. I'll wait for other people to play it before I waste the money on something that's been so hyped it's probably gonna suck. Like Deus Ex 2.

Or like Duke Nukem Forever! hehe, no seriously. I've read a few reviews so far and they were all in agreement: awesome game, milestone, but sucky marketing strategy and lack of serious mp platform. (it's idd very...retarded to trust on your modding fanbase to fill that gap. It will no doubt be filled and prolly well, but still)
Could be that I drive a bit too much on the original's success, but that was a BOMB, and the general tone is that HL2 is history repeated. Let's hope. Doom 3 was great, but not monumental. Hl 2 should be!
Yeah yeah, shoot me for being blindly enthusiastic

yea, doom3 is awesome for graphics. Gameplay is kinda so-so. I got to hell, got my ass kicked numerous times by a hellknight or something (bfg throwing bastard) and haven't played any more. I'll go back to it eventually.

You said it best bro. I guess the feel and impact of the original HL adds to the specialness/expectations too, cos it's remarkable how the ppl here that are most sceptic about HL2 are the ones that didn't play the original when it came out. (i.e. 11b and Satis) So, NOSTALGIA WALK WITH ME!

hehe...Deus Ex relly ruined me. I don't expect anyone to make a sequel that's worth a shit any more. I had really high expectations.. /cry Anyway, we'll see. Btw, Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas was apparently stolen. Release date still set for the end of the month.

mm, end of the month already? I really gotta check up on release dates more often, but since they're as fickle as a politician (which is a lot) that's pretty much a lost cause. I bet this stolen version will appear on the web very soon then, and that no one will download it, of course. and you sound like a crossed lover Satis. *wonders how much it was that Satis loved his Deus Ex copy*

Woohoo...I'm almost done buying Rome: Total War, so I'll need new candy in a bit. And freaking hell @ Oz. Centuries of western civilization, and some ppl are still questioning if a moderately violent video game can be sold. Sigh. If they're so worried about their kids they should make sure that kids have a hard time buying such a game, instead of banning it outright. Mind you, I think it's ridiculous to ban kids from a game like HL2 (Manhunt I can understand kinda tho, if they're like 7 )
Reminds me: They were having a LAN-party at my uni (Universiteit Antwerpen) recently, where they'd hold (among other things) a little CS tournament. The dean heard about that and someone apparently told him that it's a very 'violent' video game and banned the tournament. Like, wtf?! Get informed first freaking bastard, THEN ban it if you like. I bet he goes into cardiac arrest when I show him postal 2 or manhunt. Ah well, good thing I don't have much to do with uni anyway, or it might bother me personally. Now I'm just loathing his ignorance.

Aussies are safe, it's rated 15+ or so dunno anymore, read it somewhere, so it will appear in Australia.
And Half-Life as you'll find in the shops will not have a manual: "There is no instruction booklet in any version of the game. However, Prima will be publishing the official strategy guide."
Which of course you'll have to order and pay for seperately. Tss.

Ffs, seems like they're seriously milking on the (no doubt massive) succes of HL2, even before it hit the stores. Bah. I'm beginning to dislike Valve a bit more every day.
