No, it's true. Ati and Valve have been working closely together during development and they recommend ati cards. Kinda like with Far Cry. Seems like my pc just meets the recommended requirements for HL2, w00tz0r.

Prolly the requirements for the starting screen, but nothing more.

Isn't that a coincidence? The day that Doom3 becomes available in most stores is the day HL2 goes gold. Well, hell, I don't care. I'm all for the good games to hurry their asses up and come on out.
I bet HL2 ship early September. Which is when Duke Nukem Forever goes gold.

Guys, my gaming magazine has a hands-on review copy of HL2, gave it a blazing review, BUT: apart from CS source (which comes with the game), there are NO mp modes that come with the game itself....
Of course, there are a few modmakers that have been working on HL2 mods for a while already, and they're undoubtedly going to release some mp mods soon enough, but still...it's fucked up!
Also, the CS version that comes with it is "just" CS with better gfx and the physics, not even new maps...
The mod scene will provide for us soon enough on both accounts, but like WTF?!

It kinda depends on the way you want to obtain your HL2 copy. This is what i read somewhere, you have at least 5 different ways of getting the game:
Retail Boxes
Standard Edition — includes HL2 and CS:Source. Ships on six CDs, in one of three box-art packages (Gordon, Alyx or the G-Man),
Collector's Edition — includes Half-Life 2, Counter-Strike: Source, Half-Life 1: Source, a Half-Life 2 T-shirtand a Prima book sampler. Ships on a single DVD.
Steam Packages
Bronze — HL2* and CS:Source.
Silver — HL2*, Counter-Strike: Source, Half-Life 1: Source*, Day of Defeat: Source*, Valve's back catalog currently available on Steam.
Gold — HL2*, Counter-Strike: Source, Half-Life 1: Source*, Day of Defeat: Source*, Valve's back catalog currently available on Steam, Complete Strategy Guide from Prima Games, 3 different Half-Life 2 posters, Half-Life 2 hat, Half-Life 2 postcard, Half-Life 2 stickers, Half-Life 2 Soundtrack CD, Chance to win a trip to Valve! (1 trip offered for every 5000 Gold packages purchased).
Anyway i don`t have a decent computer yet, so HL2 can stay in the fridge for a while. Last release date i heard is 26 november btw. So that means almost 2 months waiting. And it got a 96% from PC Gamer if i`m not mistaken.

can't we just buy HL2? Fuck CS. I don't want to spend my hard earned cash (heh) on damn CS.

Haha, you WILL get CS if you want it or not (or so it seems). If they don`t delay again of course. I think Half-Life 2 must be the game that most people have talked about without ever playing it.

I dont think HL2 will come close to the quality of Doom 3

Maybe not in terms of graphics, but I expect it to blow Doom 3 out of the water on most other aspects. Especially because of the physics and non-scripted AI. I'm looking forward to pulling a radiator from the wall with that device and land it on some dudes' heads.
I'll be content if it'll have anything of the impact HL1 had.
