aight, well, my birthday came and went. I know have an xp3200+ processor and doom3.

Man, that game's a bit of a shocker. I haven't played very far (plus I died without saving) so I can't say much yet, but it's gotten me jumping a few times already. And the new processor rocks. heheh

And cool, make sure you take some pics. It's got me jumping quite a few times too yeah...additionally, I played it mostly at night with the sound up, that didn't help. It's mostly of the cheaper thrills tho, no real 'TERROR' feeling. I liked the guy that twisted the metal of the stairs and jumps right through it, on your face.

Don't get me started on the whining wussos that insist on using flashlight together with their weapons, though. I got a few mates who play the game but installed the flashlight mod, and still don't get far. Reason is simple: they're too pansy. But of course, they will make up all sorts of excuses instead.

yea, shooting at something you can't see is rough. I lost alot of health trying to figure out where the guy was and putting bullets into him. I just need to remember to backtrack to a lit area for killing, I suppose.

In regard of your shooting-in-the-dark statement, I think you will recognize this: walk into a room, door shut behind you...suddenly, all the lights are shut down, and you hear zombies crawling and grunting through the dark. You switch to your flashlight to see where the slow bastards are, spot one, switch back to shotgun, frag him, but by then you could have zombies standing next you in just about every corner, bitchslapping away at you, fucking up your aim even more and making you lose way too much HP over 2-3 zombies. Preferrably standing behind you.

On the bright side, there's also easy monsters. The crawling ones with 2 heads (or something) go down with one shotgun shell to the head, plus they move at handheight (and so shotgun height) and their eyes lit up in the dark. By far easiest enemy in the game, imho. (ok, a single zombie in a brightly lit area might be easier ) Thinking of replaying the game in nightmare or hell; whatever is the highest difficutly rating. But mayeb I'd better wait until I get a new power supply box, this one's sounding...suspicious. Prolly dying on me

yea...I don't think I've gotten very far yet. I just got ambushed by a buttload of spiders. Little bastards tore me up. I think I'm leaving the Beta labs or something. Bleh. I love the videos. heheh.

Oh yeah, the spiders..in that "pit" with the malfunctioning automatic ladder, right? Raped me good too, first time around. Good pics...Mars exterior is great yeah. It's a nice touch to the game too.

You at the point yet where you start to hear demonic laughter? After a while "the voices" (sound like a psycho now ) were constantly telling me that my soul would be theirs...and I mean, 10 times or something. So you get a "yeah yeah, whatever" attitude towards them, which isn't fun.

hmmm...not sure, I'll let you know. Yes about the spiders. Bastard spiders. I hate those things. But anyway....I haven't been playing it a whole lot. Still been hitting up SWG pretty hard.

gotta say, the atmosphere is intense! like you guys said, the flaslight OR gun is pretty intense, you get well paranoid about every little piece of shadow

few heart in mouth moments but so far this is the most 'on edge' game i've ever played.

haha, it's pretty frightening innit? It kinda ebs away as you play the game, but still. It's certainly worth buying, but keep in mind that it's replayability is pretty low. Me, being a bum, would never put down 50€ for Doom 3...but I would for games that can last for years. (be it on their own or because of a vibrant modding scene) Know what I mean?

finished the demo, i can see what you mean about it ebbing away, you get used to expecting stuff jumping out and stuff being behind you.

might wait until christmas and get someone to buy it for me then.

This game is great. It its a very good quality built game. I love the way you can interface with the computers, and at the begining of the game, when all hell breaks loose, those demons are flying around and they fly through the montior and attack a guy that on the monitor in another part of a building. Thats was so cool.

And to prove that I'm not just topic-digging here; an xp for Doom 3 has been announced called Resurrection of Evil. New enemies, new story and some new additions to your arsenal. (among those the double-barreled shotgun. Missed that baby. ) I'll let you find out more baout the thing yourself, but the "Helltime" feature (= bullet time) and the new "grab gun" (=gravity gun) sounds like shameless rips from MP and HL. Which isn't to say I condemn it as such...better a well stolen than a bad original idea.

I thought I'd toss in some hi-res screenies. 1024x768 with everything maxed. Only have one that's not dark to the point of stupidity. Sorry.
