look out your window...

And yeah, it sucks. Let's just hope it doesn't go Duke Nukem Forever on our asses. The "Forever" part is starting to sound painfully cynical.

From some site:

The company said that it plans to release three new original titles in the fiscal 2006 first quarter. Pandemic Studios' "Destroy All Humans!(TM)" and "S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl" from GSC Game World are now scheduled to ship in April and May of 2005, respectively. In addition, the company plans to release "Juiced" in the fiscal 2006 first quarter.

So it seems the Stalker is set from early 2005 to may 2005 now.

"UPDATE!
[10/12/04 10:34]

We spoke to STALKER's publishers THQ this very morning and they have strongly denied that the game will be subjected to any further delays and re-affirmed that the title is still on schedule for release on PC in May 2005."

Man, damnit....they better complete this thing and release it. STill, I'd rather have it delayed then be released all shitty.

I'm getting seriously pissed off with games being released crappily, so I agree. I understand that it's a tough business (more than ever, in the age that games make more cash than hollywood blockbusters) and that financial independence has a lot to do with the time and resources you can spend to make things perfect instead of 'just' very good, but sometimes...

Take Bloodlines: great game, i'm loving it, no real problems. But they reportedly were ready six(!) months before HL2 was released, but had to wait because of contractual reasons. Thing is: bloodlines looks good but not as good as HL2 with exactly the same engine and 6 months time to streamline. Also, in terms of quality-performance it's way behind Hl2. (I can get better gfx with a higher FPS in HL2 than in bloodlines) So; they had the time to make it even better but they apparently didn't bother much. No fun. :(

Well, we're still waiting...for anyone interested:

http://stalker.myexp.de/en/index.php?si ... hp&id=1650

a clip featuring real footage/stalker footage of the Chernobyl area...cool to watch. Some parts are comparing areas, other just general atmosphere but the conclusion (to me) is that it looks a lot like the real footage. There's also some part with dorky guerrileras, don't know wtf that's doing in there. Ignore them. And ignore the quality of the clip which sucked for me.

Ive read an article or two about this game. It seems like a kinda RPG/action game. One bi i read was that for some reason, every now and then theres a shockwave type thiong that when its about to happen you (and all the creatures around) haveto take cover. Ererything is thrown into random to create a kind of ever changing landscape. Sound interesting.

The other thing was that apparently theres a new super intelligent way that NPC's interact with eachother if they come accross one another.

Man, that sounds totally ghey. :( So basically half the team left and took the technology with them? I'll be very, very surprised what the game will look like if THQ will really release it this year. :o
