 Doom 3 is GOLD
To quote from slashdot:
"Yes, this is the official word that [long-awaited PC FPS] DOOM 3 has been code released and has been approved for manufacturing! According to the .plan file of id CEO Todd Hollenshead: 'We literally just hung up with Activision and have confirmed that our latest release candidate has been mutually approved and is finally GOLD. So, the next question is release dates. Retailers in the States will be allowed to pick up games starting at 12:01 AM on August 3rd. The official street date is actually August 5th in the U.S.A., but some of your favorite stores will probably have it early for those of you who have to have it first. Check with your local retailer for that information... [Internationally] the UK will probably get it first, on or about August 6th. Everywhere else will probably be Friday, August 13th (cue Twilight Zone Theme) or close to that date, with just a few exceptions (e.g. Russia and Poland)'."

W00t! It remains to be seen how well Doom III will work on my pc tho. Should be ok, if i lay off the FAA. I better start browsing the web for a copy...like erhm, winning them in an online contest, of course.

Yeah, I did. With the same problem as you, probably: absurdly low amount of FPS. But, it did look mighty fucking cool. A FPS of 1 when a zombie pops up doesn't do much for tension either...prolly really scary when it runs smooth. They had a long time to iron out the engine, so should be ok.
Talking abotu scary, you survived the Nuthouse/orphan's home/spontaneously combusted house lvl in Thief 3 Satis?

yea, I finished that level. What a pain. Killing those freakish creatures was no fun. And then doing all the sneaking in the house's memory...man. Anyway, I haven't gone much beyond that yet. I'm focusing on SWG. It's still installed, though. I'll probably go back to it eventually.

you MMORPG bitch
I practically had a heart attack over that piece, and i'm fond of scary games,(Roth, Undying, I have no mouth and i must scream, etc. etc.) so i don't scare too easy over a game... I know friends who just stopped at that piece, too scary. :rol: wusses
On the MMORPG note, i'm mildly interested in world of warcraft...missed the chance to beta it in Europe, ripoff.

mild update on minimum system requirements. Once again, stolen from slashdot
"The Houston Chronicle's Computing column has got the Doom 3 minimum system requirements. Biggest eye-opener: 384 MB of memory. Lots of mainstream PCs have been sold with 256 MB of RAM, so upgrades will be in order. RAM chip manufacturers should be salivating about now. You'll also need a 1.5-GHz processor and a GeForce 3 or Radeon 8500 graphics card or better."

lol@ 384 memory..their close cooperation with Nvidia is showing (450W power supply anyone?) Should be able to work that shit just fine on my pc, maybe i'll buy another 512 ram. And/or a 19" screen, now that they're so cheap. And i still gotta send your Texas ass some beer, too. Bleh.

Yes off course, the graphics is the only thing that really gets better in shooters nowadays.

Yeah, a bit of competition to NVidia doesn't hurt though.

Because I'm so important i will quote myself
It seems like it depends from game to game wether Nvidia or Ati rules, at the moment. Let's hope HL2 will pwn Doom 3, for my Ati-sake.
Anyone seen/heard/read about the Unreal Engine 3? I mean, like, holy shit.
