 GTA San Andreas
Anyone read the 10 page article in Game Informer? Sweeet! I don't buy video games as soon as they come out, but that'll be an exception.

nope, missed the article. I take it it's a magazine (like, non-web)? Too bad. I'm very hyped on it too. I bought GTA:Vice City very shortly after it came out.

It should be mighty fine, but didn't read much about it yet. Prolly will scavenger the net for previews now. Reminds me, I still have that 90% translated stalker interview somewhere, would be stupid not to finish that off when i already did 90%.

Looks great. It has 3 cities, each the size of Vice City, and all the country side inbetween. Enhanced game features like robbing houses, etc. Lots of other cool stuff. There's nothing online.

It's out!! I suppose everyone's getting it as quickly as possible, hehe. I know I am, but the game will have to wait for a week or two i'm afraid, got some stuff to do like papers and exams. Meh.
Btw, also a demo out for battlefield II!

Too bad I can't fully enjoy the frenzy...it gets even better tho: I won two tickets for a Tori Amos concert (with Tom McRae opening) sunday evening in Brussels, but I got an exam monday morning....since i suck horribly at learning up front I can't go. Typical eh: I finally win something and I can't go. That's, Tantalus-like, even worse than not winning anything at all. Before J asks: I already gave them to someone from school.

I'll have to wait a while before I can play it, I've got a lot of exams in two weeks.

I played the PS version way back when and I hated it. GTA is not an RPG but this version is trying to be. It's all like "Damn nigga, gotta eat fool" or "Gotta buff up" or shit like that. IF you don't eat, you get thin, if you are thin you get hurt more easily. (Same goes for excercise) which just plain pissed me off.
And to top it off, the Ps2 could not handle the size of the game, so they toned the graphics down, and it slowed down all the time.
In all, I didn't like it, but then the whole "nigga" style of it anoyed me, because nigga's are what chav's wish they were, and chav's annoy me.

No offense, but you must be the only person I ever heard who disliked the game. I mean, for reasons other than moral ones. I think it's pretty cool that your char gets fatter/thinner/buffer, and the whole black culture thing doesn't bother me either -as long as I'm allowed to make fun of the excesses. And PS2 not handling the game...well, uhm, that could bring us back to the pc <-> console discussions.

The thing I've been looking forward most in this game is the whole early 90's west coast nigga thing.
I can only judge the RPG elements when I play the game, it can be pretty annoying, but if executed well, it can also be very cool.

Pev doesn't like the game either, neither does a friend of mine that I work with, you know him ox, i mentioned him to you, he's the wigga that did away with 3 grand (he turned up again by the way)
The way I see it is, i enjoyed GTA for it's pick up and go style. Right at the start you could do almost whatever you wanted except for get to certain places and get certain wanted levels. In this, I don't feel the elements of RPG that they've put in to it fit (I wouldn't really call it RPG, i just can't think of what else to call it)
Also another wigga friend of mine said even he found the black culture thing to over top, but did enjoy the game once he got passed it. I've no problem with black culture, at least in games/films (Drive by's and killing homies pretty much suck in real life) Heck, If I had a real problem with it, i wouldn't like fresh prince of bel air!
I felt it strayed to far from what GTA should be. I mean, GTA stands for grand theft auto. Cars. Not gangs, but at least in GTA 1 - VC (well not so much one) the gangs were just for story line, i didn't have to be "tommy vercetti" if I didn't want to, i could just ride about killing people. In this, I have to worry about my hair as I do it. I'll prolly get it when it's out on the cheap range, but then, I doubt it.
I've no doubt that it's a good game in it's own right, just not for me.
