Say what you want about CS, but as a MP game its impact is unparalleled. Which is not to say i think it's the best mp game ever or anything, but it did boom the modscene.
oh and lol@ BJ for not getting past the tentacle thing hehe...you must be getting slow (jk)

I used to love CS. Unfortunately is fucking hard against all those 12 year old pros!

It never struck me as a good game, too much camping, ridiculous grenades, totally useless weapons(come on, if a person takes one bullet from Desert Eagle, he would fly two meters back and land on his back instead of shooting back), and lotsa other stuff that made no sense.
And the Impact was prolly because it included diff elements than quake and other traditional FPS.

Most probably, and cos it's free and user-friendly.
But as for the "realism"; it still does a lot better than 99% of games out there, so i don't think that a valid point. Some games have opponents that survive a point blank sawed-off shotgun shot...that's a little further off than the desert eagle thing you said. It doesn't have to be realistic, it has to be fun! too much realism --> flight sims were you spend two hours flying from spot A to B without ANYTHING happening lol...if i ever get that sick plz shoot me.

I haveto agree with Ox there.
It is fundamentally unrealistic. But it is fun.
I think Peltz just didnt like it cos he got raped constantly by AWPers!

Digging this old topic back up, in (high) expectance of half-life 2 somewhere in the summer. If you haven't seen any screens or little movies, you would want to check here.
You would want to check the first movie, baiting the bugs, and read the guy's 4 pages commentary for example.

Tnx J, there's also a big preview with one of their ppl testing it in PCGameplay, don't know if you know it. www.pcgameplay.com It's absolutely the best and most honest pc-gaming mag there is. No shitty "good-score-for-good-review" shit there.

umm anyone know when this game is actually coming out yet? I've finally played Half-Life just recently and i still thought it was mint.
(btw BJ and J, you have the worst tactics for the 3 tentacled creature, all you have to do is crouch as you walk and they CAN'T HEAR YOU...muppets )

Yeah okay, i'm past that creature in 10 seconds and you're crouching and sneaking for like 5 minutes, guess what's the best tactic ... i know the creature attacks on noise that's why you can throw nades to distract it.
according to some site:Half-Life 2 release date is currently November 12th 2004
according to some other sites: Half-Life 2 will not make 2004
..

According to this, Half-life 2 will be finished in August and delivered to Vivendi, the distributer. So if they (Vivendi) don't take too long, we can expect it end of august, or maybe september.
