lol@ dock. You were really close to that part of the game, last time you talked about it, iirc. That dock is just next to the third satellite you gotta blow I think. Didn't know those trucks actually existed, I thought they looked kinda funny and unrealistic, shows how much i know. Or maybe you drove around huge matchbox trucks, I'm not ruling that out either. :)

So, now you finished it, I can bitch all I want; how the fuck did you beat the final battle? lol. If you killed everything, you're a pretty tough mothafucka. :/ Other bitching parts: when you have to defend Val and the nuke, and the groups of elite troops come pouring in. I used smoke grenades, put on heat vision and started fragging blind biatches. An upside of that tactic is that the guys holding shields (don't get me started on those) have their shields down while wondering what's going on. The fight with Crow in his heli after blowing up the boat can be hard too.

Hated the troops in full body armor and/or a riot shield most of all. How many times didn't i blast a full m16 clip on them while imaginary yelling "EAT LEAD MODDAFOKKA!!", only to see them pull away their shield while i'm out of bullets and shoot me in the pretty face. :/

My veteran-game is tought but advancing steadily. I can see me getting stuck somehwere later on tho.

The final (crater) area was extremely tough. I spent a long time there, playing it over and over and over again. I ended up taking advantage of problems with the AI.

When I first came out of the door, I'd shoot two of the three jumping, machine-gun toting bastards with a sniper rifle. Then I'd go prone and kinda sandwhich myself into a corner.

When the big bastards came to investigate, they couldn't see me, but I could see their arms poking out. So I'd shoot their arms until they died.

As far as all the elite troops... I used grenades, my grenade launcher (from the OICW) and I think rocket launcher mainly. I had no real problem, to be honest. I never really messed around with smoke and flash grenades.. I didn't even think about that.

that second screen shot reminds me of halo. There's all places you aint supposed to be able to get to, but there's parts of the cliff that you can ride on (by super jumping the warthog with grenades) untill you get to area's with things that are solid, but have no texture. Also some places (using a banshee) that have secret music playing.

Hehe..if I didn't know what halo was, I'd think you had been doing some serial toad-licking dude. :)

Kinda ironic that you took advantage of the AI in the end, it's mostly a strong point in the game aye. I thought of that too (hiding in corner there) in my game, but i somehow always screwed up and they'd spot me and fire rockets at me from point blank. :/ At least i know now it's possible.

And the elite troops...i only blasted the groups in the long hallway (right before meeting Krieger) and those guarding Doyle with explosives of some sorts. In most other cases i wasn't carrying a rocket launcher or any nades. Now i'm replaying it, i can't help but feeling that i had a poor selection of weaponry. Usually the m16, shotgun, sniper and rocket launcher. But when i was indoor i'd lose the launcher for a P90 or MP5, not realizing that it sometimes takes a friggin long time before running into another one. :/

Not taking along one of the other machine guns was a big mistake too. Especially the heavy machingun thing and the one with the grenade-launching properties. I bet that heavy machinegun ripped through the elite troops. :/ :/

Actually yea, the real big machinegun (SAW, I think, or M60 maybe) would actually kill them through their armor, I believe. But it was hard to find and chewed up alot of ammo.

My main weapons (when I could choose) were sniper rifle, OICW (the more advanced, big rifle with the granades), P90 and shotgun. The rocket launcher was rarely worth the time and effort it took to use, at least until the end of the game. At the end of the game it's damn required.

If I played it again, I would've dumped the P90 and gone with the heavy machinegun more. Only problem is the OICW and machiengun use the same ammo, so if you chew it all up you're outta luck. Poop. I just finished taking my skills test for Cisco 7 and my brain is seriously burned out. :/

Cool screenshots, especially the second one. I don't know how the fuck you can get stuck like that, every time i rammed that bridge it catapulted me over it, and into the woods. And wtf is that car floating above the water? hehe

Damn, so SAW it is then. I would think you'd find plenty of bullets, even if they are so fast to go, because they use the same ammo as the m16, and about 80% of all mercenaries in the game wield an m16. I think. Blah. Far Cry rocks.

P.S. is it me, or does your water look strange? did you tone up or down the graphical quality of it or something?

graphical quality was pretty toned down. The game really didn't like my computer too much. I think they could've done a better job optimizing the engine.. it's not THAT pretty. Not pretty enough to grind my machine to a halt, when I can run all other games and max rez. But I digress.

I'm thinking about cranking up the detail to max and taking some screenhies. Just to see the difference. I love the sausage in that last screenshot. :P

Well, here are some screenies with detail turned all the way up. I don't have any antialiasing turned on, but everything is maxed out.

Crazily enough, it's actually still playable.

Damn, i played a part of the game in highest quality but never bothered going into the water, cool fish. :) And are those birds flying through the sky? w00tzor. You think it might be the anti-aliasing that made everyhting so slow when i turned open all detail? Maybe it's just my pc tho, hehe.

Dunno, if you had antialiasing turned on it would definetely fuck stuff up pretty bad. And yes, those were birds. There's flocks of the bastards.. sea gulls, parrots, all kinds of stuff.

Found some graphical bugs, though.

lol@ invisible guard tower...and yeah, you can shoot through wood. That's how i killed many guys in my veteran game, swim underwater to one of the fishing houses, then crawled very quietly under the platform and fire those bitches in the groin throught the floor! Anything involving groins and combat always does the trick.

I was wondering, since i didn't get the birds and fishes at highest detail; did you fiddle around with the render modes? I saw there were like 5 different render modes than the standard one, a pretty cool feature. Not too surprising if you know that Far Cry actually developped out of a benchmark-project. :)

And it was the anti-aliasing that made my game so slow i think yeah...goes totally smooth now, with all settings on very high. When I see that graphical beauty I know that this PC was a good investment. :)

Yea, I played around with the different render modes today, actually. I'm sure you're dying to see the results. :)

BTW, I realized I wasn't at the highest graphical settings after all. :/ I fixed that, but now I'm getting some unbelievable graphical glitches. Dunno.

One more render mode and two screenies.

BTw, I did not need to change render modes for the birds.
