Do you think you're a true gamer?
Think again: http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&cid=575&e=1&u=/nm/life_videogames_dc
Turns out that women over 40 are hardcore online game players!! Gotta tell that to my mom, oh no wait, i'd risk her claiming the computer for herself.

Yeah you could question the way the research was done. But almost 4000 is a good start, i think it's rather representative.
Although when you think of it, it's of course an online research, and i can imagine that most over 40 mothers that use the internet use it very often, either to play lotsa games or to chat chat chat.

The fact that it was conducted online is also misleading. I mean, think about the women who dont even use computers. And Im sure the majority of women who are gamers probably live online like the majority of men gamers.

Still, it would mean that women that do play games are more into it than men. Also considering the fact that it's mid-december untill mid-januari, where the average woman is buying presents or cleaning up the terrible mess that the house has become during the holidays. No sir, not these women, they stick to their games, let the mushrooms grow.
Hey ox, you might want to try getting their e-mail adresses, sounds like a perfect girl for you.

Heh, no-one seems to have mentioned this, but those women definitely are /not/ up Ox's ally Ox on puzzle games? I think I'd see Keith Richards on carrot juice before that...

plus i know plenty of hardcore gamers that don't play online at all. i mean if you're on a dial up you can't afford to spend hours each night going through baldurs gate, or on ultima online. and a lot of ppl are put off by joining online games because there's always an element of 'look its a noob'. but still. surprising there are so many women. i mean most of my girl friends don't play games. only Jennie. most of the girls i know that bother with comps just surf the 'net.

Damn, in what hole do you ppl live in??? dial up?? They are covering whole cities with Wlan here and you talk about dial up Plus its free of charge, atm theres only one city tho, but in Tallinn you can go to Pubs and whatnot freetime places to get access to wlan and most of the time its free.
Damn, theres wlan even in Statoil (gas station if you dont know what Statoil is)
