Hehehe, don't worry J, i'm still working myself through a list of super-games i had stashed until i would have my new (current) pc. And to think i also gotta replay games that were previously very slow on my old pc, i'm sure it'll make a huge difference.

I'M BACK!! *beavis-voice*
So, after slugging thru the exams i have fired up NWN again and kicked my dwarven barbarian in the arse to get moving again.
I stopped last time just before entering Luskan, so i wouldn't leave too many "loose ends" hanging. I entered Luskan, did a few subquests in the city, killed all sorts of people, whacked the two pirate captains, and then went on to the host tower....man, i was shocked when i was first told about Aribeth by the guard of the Host Tower And then all those rumours about Maugrim, now i just HAD to find out wtf was going on. Once inside the tower i first asked the two ambassadors some stuff, then killed the orcish one (a bit too disrespectful towards my dwarf ), and started moving up. The Host Tower was one of the most fun parts of NWN so far, i must say! Floor after floor with helpless acolytes, underwizards and whatnot, it was like cutting thru butter! And ofcourse the occasional "real" wizard, but they don't seem to be all that either. Most of the time it's like:
(artistic impression by me)
Rinox: Ooh a REAL wizard, let's split his skull!
REAL wizard: Puny dwarf, i will unleash my mighty spell on you!
*casts cold-ish spell* Mwuahahaha, 50 HP of damage, DIE dwarf!!
Rinox: Dude, i got like 200HP
REAL wizard: Wtf?!
*Rinox splits skull*
So, had a blast. Then the ritual on top of the tower which again was kinda freaky with Aribeth and shit. I was like pummeling the door to try to stop it, but it (duh) turned out to be impossible.
In short, enjoying NWN even more than before! I'll prolly soon get to SoU and HotU (especially looking forward to that). I'll post my char's stats and stuff tomorrow or sumthing.
Btw, had the most annoying thing happen to me: i was (as a matter of practice) clearing out homes in Luskan, killing the residents etc., when suddenly there's a couple with a little kid. Now, since i killed it's parents it was rather unfriendly so i tried to whack it to, but whatever i tried it didn'tget hurt. Prolly some no-kid-killing censorship. But; a while later i go into the tavern of Luskan, where ALL the kids stay, and since i had a bit of an uhm, reputation by then they automatically attacked me. There were like 10 of them and i couldn't damage them, so i had to loose em. Which led to the "mighty dwarven barbarian" running thru Luskan with a group of invincible kids behind him wanting to slit his throat. Some of them even followed me into the sewers and the brothel, ffs. But i got lost of them, after all.

Haha, nice going, the mighty hero running away from a bunch of kids.
I finished NWN btw, still got to install SoU, and still got to buy HotU maybe. My dwarven fighter was a kick-ass character i might say, with the proper equipment you're pretty much invincible. It's not fair that equipment that gives elemental or magic protection doesn't stack though. But still, that ring of elemental resistance is one of the best items in the game imo, all those traps and spells that didn't hurt me.
Dunno about your barbarian, but i had some troubles with my Will-saves sometimes, so i bought a helmet that gave me protection for mind-affecting spells. That was a real relief.
And yeah i killed that orc too.

Yes, the children are censored, there was even talk about Atari or Hasbro complaining that there shouldn't be kids at all in HotU, wankers, what's a city without kids?

lmao ox, very funny.
glad your enjoying the game, the offal campaign gets a bitto much flak, it's not as bad as some people make out imo.
the will save fails are the biggest pain in the arse in the game. paladins are boring tossers but they get very good saves and immunity to fear, very useful idd. oh, and a few good buff spells later on.

I decided to buy that helmet when i had been fighting some mummies or something, with some fear-aura around them. If i took on 3 at a time my fighter almost always failed one of his saves, it was like it was jinxed, my saves weren't that bad but it was really frustrating. My char would run away frightened, exploring half of the map sometimes and again failing a save when the mummies finally managed to catch up with me. Not that they could serieusly injure me, but it was just a total waste of time.
It helped against that stun-effect that often accompagnies acid traps too btw. Maybe a barbarian has some special resistances for these effects dunno, otherwise i'd serieusly recommend to buy something that gives mind-affecting spell-resistance.

I looked ahead on that, actually. I made sure my Wisdom is relatively high, so my will saves are quite ok. Plus i'm wearing some item that grants me immunity to fear, forgot which exactly tho.
The only effects that really can touch me are "daze" and sometimes "stun". And i got a helmet that protects from mind control as well as a cloak with permanent free action, so if needed i can protect myself better.

Aight, so advanced a bit further:
I had the Elk tribe break their agreement with the Luskan forces, no i didn't kill everyone but actually helped them get the cure (they ARE double-hard barbarians after all ), and ofcourse killed the commander who infected them. Asking me 3000 GP for it, tss, if i wasn't already gonna kill him that made me do it.
The elk tribe barbarian warriors were suprisingly tough I could easily take 2-3 at a time, but when they were like 5 i had a veeery hard time. They were also constantly critically hitting me, and i was like "wtf dudes i'm wearing a helmet", but i only later on found out that i in reality was wearing a circlet that LOOKED like a friggin helmet.
The trial-quest with the barbarian was pretty cool, but i lost the trial. Partly cos i wasn't persuasive enough to bribe one guy and because i had treathened another guy to rip off his leg if he didn't give me cash, BEFORE i had to interview him on the case. That kinda cost me. But anyhoo, i bribed one jury member and that was also the amount jury members that were convinced by my pleading. I was SO ready to whack every non-cooperative jury member plus the otyher party's advocate, but sadly they all were teleported out right away.
I entered the Coldwood then, already found one of the orc leaders and killed him; and entered the wizards tower and took the snow globe, and that's more or less where i quit this session. But dammit, those huge fire elementals are bastards. One is ok, but two can be a bitch

So, i'm at the beginning of chapter 4! Did a whole lot today: the Moonwood, the snow globe quest, the creator ruins and the giants/dragon's lairs.
I killed every dragon i met methinks (Klauth, gold, green, bleu and white dragon), but only AFTER fulfilling their stupid quests ofcourse. It was when i started asking for (outrageous) rewards that they started getting pissed; and thus set my dwarven tank off on a dragon-chopping spree. I should start a business in dragon's blood, must have like whole kegs of it by now lol.
The giants (hill and fire) were relatively easy to take, even their "champions", but FFS, that fire giant king, Kolgor or something, wtf was that! he kept whooping me, over and over. I managed to whack him in the end, but still, very very nasty bitch that one.
Oh, and the "creators" suck man! They couldn't even hit an elephant, makes you wonder how in fucksname they managed to be world dominators once. Even my mum would dominate THEM. And i'm not even talking about them complicated riddles in the dungeon, spent wya too much time on that.
So, after all the madness and destruction (still firmly on chaotic evil-course alignmentwise! ) i decided it was time to clear my inventory out plus do some serious shopping. (as i was hauling around some 370k gp) Basically, the shopping list can be reduced to:
->20 potions of speed (lifesavers!)
->30 potions of heal (w00t)
->ring of power (cost me 200k, but extremely powerful )
->bought a greataxe +2 and had it forged into stonefire (well, better late than never :p )
The smithy guy tried to rip me off; i first gave my +3 greataxe (thinking i'd get a nice +3 plus fire damage), but he forged into a friggin +2!! he actually DOWNGRADED my faithful axe and dared to ask for 20k gp!?! So, i reloaded and bought the +2 axe and used that one instead, and now i'm writing this i wonder why i didn't kill the bitch.
And why is everyone always telling me that i must understand Aribeth's feelings and stuff? I mean, HELLO, i've killed like tons of dragons, entire barbarian and giant tribes, travelled into the past and into a snow globe, and no one is giving me any respect! Time to kill Aribeth, i would think!
or to say it with the words of my char:
NO ONE WALKS AWAY!! (and they never do )
P.S. in case it might not have dawned on anyone by now...i'm liking NWN very much now, even more than my last post. Started off slowly (the story), but now it's on full speed!
Here are some trophy pics! Too bad that Klauth disappeared so quick, would have made a nice pic as well.

I guess you didn't have much trouble with the dragons, did you?
I thought that King was suprisingly easy, it's sometimes a matter of luck though, and i was using a lot of called shots at that point btw. Could have been due to using the sword+shield against him too, i was afraid he would chop me into pieces in no time without good protection (AC)
Good thinking about the potions, in the end i bought a couple of healing potions, but i think i still had about 400k money left, if not more. Could have spend more on potions of speed and such, i only used those at the very end, and when fighting dragons (if i didn't forget to use it).
Did you use the dead blue one to weaken Klauth btw?
