Hey guys, how did your league games go?

I continued my winning streak with a rather lucky 0-1 win, i've got 10 wins in a row now. :D

Anyway; here's the match report:

Quote:
3795 spectators arrived at F.C. Horendonk Arena, where weather conditions were pretty good for football. Everyone was excited about the upcoming Antwerpen derby and it the crowd was divided evenly. Horendonk started off with a 4-4-2 lineup. They fielded: Balossier - Bouvy, Dams, Wilms, Curier - Bellenbaum, Oost, Schram, Bogenbauer - Jospin, Gellhorn.

Rinoxia had chosen a strategic 5-4-1 formation. Lineup: Gu-ni - Berthier, Sénéor, Roukens, van der Plas, Jaarsveld - Chamlou, Santa Ana, Jeannesson, Thiery - Matei.

In the 1st minute Horendonks Arnout Oost received a yellow card for going into a challenge studs first. Due to a severely mistimed tackle,Joeri Roukens spent some time on the grass writhing in agony before he could get up and continue the game. Michel Berthier came close to putting the visiting team one up in the 4:th minute, following a solo raid down the middle, but Andy Balossier managed to tip the ball to a corner. Rinoxia had a good opportunity to score the lead goal but the home team goaltender Andy Balossier saved Michel Berthier´s shot headed for the top corner. The teams went for a half-time break at 0 - 0. Rinoxia, bringing the final ball possession rate to 55 percent, dominated the battle.

After several obvious shirt pulling incidents, Horendonk´s Nestor Jospin got himself booked. Zac Thiery sailed high, high above the opponents as he headed the 0-1 in after a corner kick after 50 minutes of play. Horendonk´s Jan Francis Gellhorn made a successful breakthrough attempt in the game´s 61st minute and should have levelled the score, but clipped it over the bar. In the 65:th minute Horendonks Leif Bellenbaum received a yellow card for going into a challenge studs first. 65 minutes into the game Nestor Jospin was really close to evening the score out with a dangerous long range shot, but the ball went just wide of the bar. Rinoxia´s Luc Jeannesson made it through the home teams defence in the 68:th minute, and had only to place the ball in an unguarded goal when the home side´s defender sprang up from the left, clearing the ball on the line. Rinoxia, bringing the final ball possession rate to 58 percent, dominated the battle.

The most dominating Horendonk player was without a doubt Nestor Jospin. Jan Francis Gellhorn was a disappointment, however. The most dominating Rinoxia player was without a doubt Siemon Sénéor. However, Zac Thiery made a disastrous appearance. The match ends 0 - 1.

5-4-1? Coward! :P
Well, at least you get better results then me with my 3-4-3 tactic.
My attack was excellent, formidable and solid, but from the rest only my right side defence was passable, the rest stank hard.
So I'm going to look for some central defenders tomorrow, I had no luck with transfers this weekend, I have adopted the tactic of placing a bid one minute before the deadline, but when I wanted to do that with a very good defender I had scouted there were three other parties with the same tactic. I think that should be forbidden. :?
And I just forgot to bid for two other candidates. :?

The match ended in 4-2 by the way.

I lost 3-1 as expected. I'm quite happy i scored a goal really!
It can't have gone too badly, because my sponsors have gone from calm - content and my supporters from furious-calm
anyway, here is the report

Quote:
5833 spectators arrived at Carlos "El Pibe" Valderrama Stadium, where weather conditions were pretty good for football. Tocata had chosen a strategic 3-5-2 formation. Lineup: Goodman - Carter, Cossey, Haraldsson - Merrall, Frostenkvist, Svensson, Akoumianakis, Koula - Campbell, Gardner.

Rinett tactics involved an interesting 4-5-1 combination. Lineup: Grzyb - Wright, Jarrad, Queen, Logan - Johnstone, Iftodi, Evans, Mautner, Latham - Exares.

Tocata saw most attack opportunites on the wings and were directing their passes that way. A questionable penalty in the 3rd minute gave the home side the lead 1 - 0. The visitors goaltender didn´t stand a chance as Chrisostomos Akoumianakis knocked the ball home. Tocata put their lead ahead another goal as William Gardner struck home the 2 - 0 goal, after an attack from the left setting him up unmarked with the keeper. Rinett appeared unsure on how to play. A couple of quick and successful challenges, followed by a shot from just outside the penalty area after 37 minutes might have resulted in another goal for Tocata. However, Aleksander Grzyb made a spectacular save. After several obvious shirt pulling incidents, Tocata´s Alan Campbell got himself booked. Halftime score was 2 - 0. Tocata, bringing the final ball possession rate to 62 percent, dominated the battle.

The Rinett players spent the half-time break getting a rerun of the teams tactical organization. In the 50:th minute Steven Latham had a fantastic opportunity to reply but his shot hit the side of the goal. Chrisostomos Akoumianakis increased Tocata´s lead to 3 - 0 from a penalty spot cannonball. In the 81st minute Tocatas William Gardner received a yellow card for going into a challenge studs first. The player down was Malaki Evans. The Rinett bench looked worried a while but in the end he managed to get up. Unsportsmanlike behaviour by Alan Campbell rendered him his second booking of the match, and Tocata had to finish the game with a reduced squad. Rinett breathed new life into the game with an opportunity to reduce the score in the 85:th minute, but the home side´s defenders cleared the ball on the line, after a long shot coming in from the left, rebounding off the crossbar. The game was close to savage at times, and Tocata`s William Gardner received a second yellow card in the 86:th, his ticket out of the game. Arden Cossey was suffering from cramps and had big difficulties keeping up as the opponentes pushed forward. Jett Wright had no problems getting through and hit home the 3 - 1 goal. Rinett held the ball, with a clear 52 percent possession rate.

The most dominating Tocata player was without a doubt Jesse Koula. Alf Frostenkvist on the other hand, had a terrible day. The most dominating Rinett player was without a doubt Franklin Exares. Thomas Johnstone was a disappointment, however. The match ends 3 - 1.

Hehe, very nice buy Sugs, a young passable playmaker with solid stamina for 12k is a bargain! :D

I could use a player like him, but got no cash to spend :/ Ah well, my money pit at least prevents me from making crazy buys. ;)

quick question...

What intensity do you train at? I've just left mine at the default 90.. Not sure if I should make it higher or whatever :?

It's best to train 100%. That way your players' skills will imrpove much faster. :) I think you're also more prone to injuries but that's usually not very much a problem. (i always train on 100% and usually don't have too many injuries.)

Btw, do you guys let your B-team handle your friendlies? I hope you do, cos a player can only train once in a week, so there's no point in having them play twice a week. Also keep in mind that if you fail to have more than 8 (or 7, forgot, shoudl checl the rules for that) players on kickoff the match is considered as an abandon (5-0) and your players won't be trained.

I have some 20-22 players and let the two "teams" play the matches and friendlies respectively. I say "team" cos my B-team is obviously more of a pile of backup players, reserve keepers and even your coach. (yes, you can put them in your team, but they're teh l33t suck ;) ) So: get yourself a B-team ;)

P.S. if you train on playmaking only your players in midefield will train on it, if you train on defending only your defenders, etc.

Next match can be relatively important: I'm playing home (in my brand new stadium, festive opening sunday w00t!) against the 4th in my group. No problem normally, but practically his entire first team is in solid or excellent form. I will still try and play "ordinary" tactics and thrust on my new stadium and groing supporter army to get me through ;) If i win, and the third-placed guy doesn't win his game i'm already mathematically promoted even. w00t! that money could help me pay off my fancy stadium lol

Yeah i've got almost a full b team. I usually need some of my good players though to fill up positions. I try not to play my older players more than twice though, cos they are more prone to injury aren't they?

I have a good 21 year old scorer that i was lucky to get as an original member. So he usually plays both games for me.

So cut though, my goalkeeper was in solid form, and he just dropped down to inadequate when i'm finally playing a league game i've got a chance of winning!!!!!
GRRR, better still win. The team i'm playing used to be a bot, but recently got a new owner.

I upgraded my stadium too, just in time for two home games in a row, i think i only upgraded it to hold about 10000 though

Total capacity: 10000
Terraces: 6300
Basic seating: 2500
Seats under roof: 1000
Seats in VIP boxes: 200

I'm still in the positive figures, so hopefully if i don't buy any players i should make a little money the next two weeks!!

ehe, nice to see you're aiming for the top Suga!! ;)

Older players aren't more prone to injury no, but they DO take a whoooole lotta longer to recover from them.

For example: i have an injured 33-yr old midfielder

Markku Halmetoja 1+
11 000 Euro, 33 years, wretched form
Has solid experience and poor leadership abilities [Unpredictable]

Stamina: passable Keeper: disastrous
Playmaking: solid Passing: poor
Winger: poor Defending: weak
Scoring: poor Set Pieces: solid

As you can see a very decent experienced playmaker, but get this: i bought him a month ago (30days!) when he was injured for 4 weeks, and he's still 1 week out

Whereas my 20-yr old keeper practically recovered from 4 weeks injury in one week.

That's the entire young-old thing eh:

young players:

->adavantages: train fast, practically don't lose any skills in their secondary stats, recover fast from injury
->disadvantages: expensive!, very low experience

old players

->advantages: cheap, lots of experience
->disadvantages: practically don't advance anymore in skills, non-trained stats go downhill quick, enormously slow injury recovery.

Best is to mix your team a bit with both. Try not to position older players in the area you train, as they usually will go crap in a season or two anyway. (if not in his trained stat in the others)

Good luck sunday!

I haven't really wanted to buy any older players. I'll stick with a few of the older good players i was given, but most of the ones i buy are around 21 etc...

You guys put the maximum into your youth team?
mine just upgraded to weak this week. lol
I'm starting to get some ok players out of it, ones that i'll be able to train anyways..

oooooh 53 minutes till my league game!

My youth team investment is 0.0€ lol...if i would invest in it i'd be bankrupt in no time :/ can't spare any cash atm. But from the moment i can again i will, it's the best way to a)build a great team and b)make money!! Soon you'll be pulling passable and solid players which you can sell for good money!! :)

Good luck with your game Suga!
