I always do the prison first, simply because that's the first quest I run into. When I've got a sissy character I just use the good old hit'n run tactic, there's plenty space to run around there.

i always go prison, beggers district, docks then the rich part. The beggers part is soooo easy with the undead, but i hate meeting the dire spider to early, it ownz your ass.

Unnfortunately i just screwed half of the quests in the beggars district by (accidently) not visiting all the houses before doing the whole cult thing. So now i get to visit empty houses with some prisoner-guy and stuff. Hadn't even met that Harben guy what's his name. Ah well. At least i'm lvl 6 now so i can use my nicer axe.
The spider went down pretty quickly, i just learned out there's something like 'knockdown', pretty handy if you ask me. I ran into 4 'never swords' somewhere else though, now that wasn't funny. Had to go invisible, run away from them and then they came one by one, that was relativly easy.
btw I was wondering: the resting doesn't seem to take that much time. So it's better just to rest a while if you can instead of using several potions, right? Or are there any disadvantages i'm not aware off?

Unfortunately there are no disadvantages with resting, that's a very weak point in the game. And those swords were indeed not funny, when I ran away they all came after me all the time so I just grabbed the goods and ran of far away.

Wtf; never swords? apart from Loxar i never had any probl the part of the game i played, and i'm guessing i fought those too. (not sure tho) The spider was pretty tough but i resisted it's lame posion and knockdown attacks with ease. Why would someone want to play a pussy elf when you can be a hard-ass dwarf aye?

Those swords that guard the tomb of that founder of Neverwinter.

Yep, and one of those swords is quite a challenging fight (or maybe my AC just sucks), so you can imagine what happens if you go through a door and get attacked by 4 of them at once. They killed me before i realised what attacked me the first time.
It's part of that 'founder of neverwinter'quest as arathorn says. In the Blacklake district, behind a bookshelf where you need some secret word.

bitch.
yeah, you need to talk to the girl outside the house, she knows the password.
the swords are tough, unless you can afford a greater swordsmans belt, then you have a decent chance. apparently sonic attacks are also good against them.
but i usually grab thestuff and recall my ass out of there.

pssh you pussy
I've hit chapter 2 now, the "plot-twist" on the end of chapter 1 wasn't really a big surprise.
I'm running around with maybe 3 or 4 greataxes +1, any point keeping them all for possible upgrades i'm not yet aware off? When i'm looting a place, i often get encumbered because of the heavy stuff i need to carry with. Wearing heavy armor doesn't help much either of course. I could buy a bag of holding maybe, or do i need money later on, to buy really nice equipment or such? Or do i find (loot) plenty of good stuff?

I can't recall to have bought anything during the game. I bought a some more in SoU and the first thing I did in HotU was buying a nice robe for my monk, but apart from that I haven't bought much there either.
I also always was to lazy to figure out how to upgrade everything, and I always got tired of taking worthless junk like crystals with me all the time.

I think i have 20k gold i can spent now, already bought some boots that improve my AC (by 1) and give me a constitution bonus of 1. Really felt i had to do something about my stats, those boots were the best stuff i could find at that point.
If i run into something i really like i might buy it, got a decent girdle and ring, think i can manage for now.

apart from gauntlets of ogre power, etc i usually sell everything.
since you can now use your stonefire greataxe, just keep one other of your axes, for upgrade later. sell the rest.

I has several 'quest items' in my inventory that i couldn't find the quest for, and now i found out it's the henchmen that can give you quests.
Would it have been possible just to hire them for 2 seconds, talk to them so they give you the quest and give the item to get your reward? Or isn't it that simple? Doesn't matter anymore for this game but it might be something i might want to know for the future.

no, you have to keep them in your employ to complete their quests, and their quest reward items get stronger in the later chapters.
