Post Some general questions
I finally got started with NWN (not installed SoU yet) and i got some basic questions:

Should i take other classes? I'm now a plain dwarven fighter, got a decent wisdom and was thinking about giving him some cleric-lvls. Not familiar with 3th edition multiclassing (or whatever they call it now) so is that a good idea? wisdom is 14 btw, so i could cast lvl 4 spells if i want.

Do i need a henchman? I don't wanna share anything with anybody, it's all mine i tell ya. So i prefer to play without one. that first one in the tutorial part didn't help me much either btw. Only problem i might have is lack of thieving skills: no open locks, no remove traps without getting hurt ..

My dwarf is just a test-case btw, don't know if i'm gonna play with him all along, just getting used to controls, camera, 3D stuff, ...

I don't multiclass my characters, there is an XP penalty for doing that, but I believe that is no problem with your character, because a fighter is a dwarf's favourite class. But I prefer a character who is extremely good at one thing instead of semi-good at two things.
Henchmen take experience, so don't take them unless you get stuck, traps and locks are no problem, your fighter should have enough HP to survive them and everything locked can be bashed to pieces.

Mkay, i came along some chests i couldn't get open, prolly needed a better weapon for that. So dwarven fighter it is and it stays in that case. For now.

You don't really need a better weapon, only if you can't dammage the chest at all, but that doesn't occur often.

idd, i usually keep a second weapon with a x3 crit multi (if my weapon doesn't have that..) just for opening chests, although improved power attack and / or a cold, fire, etc damaging weapon is even better.

Still couldn't bash some chest in the beginning open, and didn't have the patience to wait for a critical hit.

Another maybe stupid question, but i can't seem to find it: where do i see my number of attacks??
I was going to decide to take a short bow or longbow but i couldn't see if i had 2 attacks/round anyhow or such. Or is it just one attack unless stated otherwise??

Btw being surrounded by goblins and having cleave is fun to watch. Man i'm a fast fat dwarf :D

In HotU I was surrounded by zombies and I had greater cleave, meaning I could just keep on cleaving.
It was very amusing, but it doesn't occur too often alas.

I don't multiclass unless it's required for PrCs, like the AA. Thieves lost a part of their use because you don't get XP for unlocking chests and disarming traps. If you have a monk, you can solo it without being afraid to get hurt by traps, most of the time he dodges them.

And btw did you know they've got Dwarven Battle Axes in HotU Rinox

In that case i'm a lucky guy, i have a dwarf with a greataxe +1 :)

Still haven't figured out the number of attacks. Guess i only have one now, seeing how that half-orc in the prison really really hurt me a lot. Not to mention the intellect devourer and that head gaelor. I think i just drank half my inventory of potions, but at least they're dead.

just look at your character sheet RE number of attacks. there should be a number under the weapontype, 'to hit' +8, blah. this means you have just the one attack. at 6th level for a fighter you get another attack, so it could then read '+11/+5'.

ok? :)

Could have figured that out too, is it lazyness or am i really getting stupid? don't answer that.

I just realised how i spent half of my skill points on a really useless skill: Parry. Shouldn't there be said somewhere: the parry skill is really worthless when you change area or such. Man this sucks.

I BLAME YOU ALL FOR THIS !!

sorry, yeah, the parry skill really blows, and as we can now get expertise, it's even more useless

oh, and put the rest down as a bad day yes? :P

I'm on this quest i got from the druid standing under a big tree, involving the animals of the zoo. I need to set them free and i got a scroll i need to cast on a tree in that zoo. Found the tree, big problem: i can't cast spells. sigh. SO i can't complete this quest can i? I tried hiring a henchman and have him cast the spell but i couldn't give him the scroll. So am i missing anything or am i just waisting my time? I can still kill the animals of course, that could put them out of their misery :P .

*edit* never mind just had to run against to tree to get the option to use the scroll, stupid stupid stupid

Btw what lvl do you guys normally take the intellect devourer on (prison break stuff)? Since i did this as my first quest and he was quite though (overpowering i think the description was). And i hate fighting half-orcs, these guys do waaay to much damage to me.

Additional question: i ran into a guy that makes special stuff, a bit like Cromwell in bg2, does he make things that are really worth it? Since i just tried to improve my greataxe +1 with some adamantite and i got an axe i could only use from lvl 6, which sucks cause i'm only lvl 5 now :?
But anything i want to spare my adamantite for, otherwise i improve my greataxe if i'm high enough lvl.

RE levels, i'm about 4th or 5th level by the time i kick the devourer.

Yeah, its worth upgrading , although you often find stuff that is better. You can go ahead and use the adamantite because where component items are concerned, if you know where to look then you can get your hands on another to use later.

its usually a good idea to carry 2 magic versions of your weapon for upgrading, 1 to use until you hit the level requirement, the game givs you about 3 at various points anyway. :)
