well, I'm a Ranger. And we've got Minsc right now. I think that's enough heavy hitters. I've always liked parties heavy on spellcasters anyway... especially healers (we've technically got 5 of those, now...2 Rangers, 2 druids and a half-cleric).

We're not giving up on it, that's for sure. It's just temporarily suspended... I'm busy with the beta stuff i mentioned so i'm out of the loop for a while, and since i'm the host that means the games out of the loop.
Btw BJ, it's in the mail..but since it's weekend it won't be until monday that they start processing the mail i guess...so end next week with a bit of luck.

Thanks derf, though it's strikes me odd why you'd think otherwise.

I've got to start both my games again. I'll see if I can find ToB, if not, Back to BG1.

You fools hijacked my thread. If I weren't so lazy I'd take your off-topic ramblings and split them. Where are my mods?
btw...we did the planar sphere, planar prison, completed the umar hills (including stronghold quest), did Mekrath, cleaned out the temple sewers (not the eye quest yet)...ernn.... we killed the Shadow Dragon....
I don't get it. Ever time I've played previously, the shadow dragon was a puss. Just whack, whack, whack, dead. This time around he was TOUGH. We must've tried killing him half a dozen times before we finally got him... probably died 3-4 times, gave up, levelled, then came back and still got slizammed. I think when we finally killed him we still ended up having to resurrect 2 people.

@Franny
Call me anything you want, just don't cross over too many limits.
@Satis
Sorry omnipotent one.
*schemes on elaborate ways to take over the forum*
Maybe it's because of your party type? Whenever I fight the Shadow Dragon, I always go for mass offense and he goes down easy.
Your party is spell-oriented, but the defensive/summoning type (druid+cleric spell majority).
The Shadow Dragon also starts releasing his deadlier arsenal only when he's not in too much pressure (i,e. Shadow Dragon breath, rarely seen).
Btw,
The Blade Guide's here.
It's a long read, so you might wanna skip the basics and just head down to the great stuff.

If i might add to DI's explanation...the shadow dragon is a sucker for summons...since his breath attack is not an area explosion (like Firkraag) having a few mountain bears (thinking of druids ) whack at him should take most of the heat, plus have him waste his haste on them. Afer that like DI said storm it. Blah, what am i writing for, battle is already over.
I wonder how DI's knowledge stands against mine atm...in the far past i was the student, but maybe the student has become da mastah? i wish
P.S. mountain bears ownz0rs! The only reason my solo avenger worked was cos of mountain bears, gotta love 'em!
P.S.2 i'll give the blade guide a good read tomorrow DI

actually we did that... summoning is a huge part of our attack (and how we whoop up on most people). Mainly fire elementals, but I also have the efreeti bottle and cerebus. And animal summoning II (the bears).
Minsc and I (2 rangers) would run in and whack on the dragon physically, while yoshimo uses arrows and everyone else just nailed him with spells and/or summoned stuff.
Except, he'd use his wing or breath attack and freak out either minsc or me every time. Half the party would be feared and I'd usually end up getting one guy's a$$ handed to him... then have that guy run around the screen like a pansy as I try to drink healing potions, with this huge freakin' dragon right behind him. Blah...anyway...we finally killed him. I'm thinking firkraag will wait until after the underdark.

Lol....it's prolly due to the lack of straight-up melee ownz0rs i guess...(no offense on your ranger there )
Did you guys enhance your game with anything, or just straight-up BG2 on core rules?

just core rules, no enhancements. We're doing the unseeing eye quest now... barely started, actually. We're kinda running outta stuff to do, with the exception of the graveyard (which Shiny apparently hates).
I'm thinking we'll probably ally ourself with Bodhi this time around, since we've never done that before. We'll see.

Advantages: You gain a +2 axe that returns to the wielder when thrown
Disadvantages: Lose ring of protection +2, amulet of power
It pays to be evil, I guess.

well, that kinda sucks. None of my party members use axes. Don't you get boots of speed off the shadow thief head?

The biggest diadvantage is not having the mace of disruption I think. Or do you get it with Bodhi too?
Doesn't sound too logical.
