How Derf, he doesn't fit in to my style of play really, I prefer Minsc, I don't particularly like stalkers

Every NPC has its strength, I think. Whether against a gamer's appeal or a goblin.
I'd pick a Blade's lifestyle - stealing until your gold reaches critical or until you've gotten every item there is, then learning every spell from every scroll there is, then hiding out as director of a successful playhouse while living in the lap of luxury.
Nice kit, comlpetely overpowered.

Well welcome. IMHO I think that paladins are the easiest to pick and play character. Good warriors with good weapons, advantage of priest spells upto level 4, very good charisma allowing the starting player to gain good items and he fits into some very nice parties. My favourite party for BG2 is probably this:
Paladin (tankish)
Minsc (High strength tank)
Haer'dalise (second rank fighter cross warrior and lore expert)
Jahiera (healer, second rank fighter and very good druid when on high levels that allow her to use her insect swarm spell, that is very good against mages)
Aerie (well for a good party she is in. mage and healer. needs more strength but give her Crom Faeyr if you think she is lacking)
Yoshimo/Imoen (the two interchangable characters, I had a bug on mine where he didn't turn up, losing me some nice thief items but he is a good thief and Imoen serves as one for the remainder of the game, she is a good mage as well). It's a nice party and has served me well.

Aren't you a bit out of theme?
Nay. You just need to preformulate what you wrote.
If I ever ( ) start living in the skin of BG protagonist,
I'll probably be some half-elven fighter/thief/mage.
And persons I'd like to keep with myself, personaly are:
Xan, Imoen, Valygar, Keldorn, Sarevok.
I don't care much really what they can or cannot. I'd
just like to be in party like that.

Basically i used him as a Blade. I kept him behind the fighters and made him run around bleeding the weakspots.

I just don`t see Sarevok really fitting in into your party. As a person i mean. He`s not really nice to be around i would imagine.

I guess so, you're the one with Sarevoc in a good party after all.

Well he does turn CG after a bit. Similar to Viconia when you romance her.
