Hehe...i love old games bargain bins...but sometimes eve they won't do. I had to ship in fifa 98' from britain for the total sum of 3.5£
Anyways...Divine Divinity owns, AND it's Belgian! And if you wonder about the quality: it was runner up to Morrowind in the 2002 "best RPG" list on Gamespy. Ahead of NWN, even. And, when you do all the sidequests offers 200 ( ) hours of gameplay.
screenies:
Note: i didn't look for the best ones, just grabbed the first ones i found
P.S. :larian studios are working on a new RPG game absed on the Divinity realm, called "Riftrunner". It looks more fighting-oriented by the look of the screenshots. CHeck it out: www.larian.com/riftrunner
You could give feedback in the forums...Larian isn't that big a company, and their forums aren't much populated, so they have a relatively close bond with their forum-fans. Blah.

Looks rather Diablo-2-esque.... I hate diablo2... is it anything like it gameplay-wise?

Yes that's my opinion too (as I said before).

Have you played JA2 Satis?
Pretty old game, old graphics, but still absolutely rocks!

no, I've never played it. There was a several year period where I didn't play any games (when I was in the army and/or had a crap computer). I missed alot of good games. Ah well, I think I'm making up for it now.

it plays a bit like diablo, but also sorta like iwd/bg/ultima so its pretty cool. and i did say the graphics are good considering it's a 2d game, not 3d. besides you don't get to see the lighting effects properly on screenies. ok so nothing like in splinter cell but so what?

eh? You aren't the Iraqi Information Minister, are you?
"2d is superior! 3d games will beat against our walls. We will crush 3d games. We will hit them from the north and the south and the east and the west. We will kill them and bloody their nose. 3d games are our lackeys and will be our slaves..." blah blah.
How is 2d possibly superior? 3d can do everything 2d can, and then some.

when it comes to personal taste i like 2d more...but ofcourse, 3d is technically superior. Not in the least when it comes to ease-of-use when developping a game. I can imagine that there went a whole lotta more work into developping BG than in NWN.

but..why like 2d better? You could, technically, remake BG1 and BG2 (and whatever else) in 3d and have it look exactly the same. It would take alot of work, but you could have a fixed isometric view and massively detailed backgrounds, all within a 3d engine.
meh...I'm preaching to the blind.
