Well usually I would have
Human Paladin- Charisma and he gets to use that sword, Pale Justice
Elven Ranger- Good scout and decent fighter as well
Dwarvern Cleric- undead are a bit of a problem in IWD1 sometimes and they have decent spells, not to mention healing spells
Human Fighter (lvl 3 or 4)/ Druid, Druids are good in the game cos of trolls and wights, so I was thinking of having a human fighter dualclass into a Druid at lvl 4 so that he gets mastery of staves and gets Arundel's Quaterstaff.
Half-Elf Bard-Like them and they are good back up for the mage not to mention their high lore
Gnome Thief/Illustionist- need a mage and a thief so combine them, only probelm is that they can only carry one weapon.

Use Stealth and walk around whilst all those monsters can't see you.

Well, its hard at the moment cos i havent touched it for about 8 months. Im finding myself having to remember thing ive forgotten.
Like, what spells do, for example.

ok couldn't be bothered reading all your guys lol  but nearly completed it now with one party (in normal mode, not HoF lol) and I found them to be pretty damn good for most situations. All human.
Ranger
Fighter
Mage
Paladin
Thief
Druid
I think the only think I might change is the Paladin. I chose her for another 'tank' type char, but didn't really work. She can cast druid spells though...

The final boss? Hard but not impossible, keep your tanks away from him and the centre, take out the iron golems, they are an nuisance and it's pretty much done, I did this on lvl 9 as well

Nice! Yeah, I read a strategy somewhere about how to sort him out, I'm just kinda obsessed with BOD at the moment so iwd has taken a back seat.
