I done some search but I felt barely hopeless and mildly bored after one hr of searching. I browse sites in Firefox and Opera and on many of places I see that they are represented with some icon near the url of the site. I could not find how to make it.

Do you know how to set the forum icon?

I found it, I think. First make the 16x16 *.ico file, then call it favicon.ico, and then put it to root path. Well, I'll try to see if something other is needed. :P Yes, it is, you need to put

Code:
<LINK REL="SHORTCUT ICON" HREF="favicon.ico">

In the head-meta section of page. Well, then favicon.ico name is not needed but it is still standard, I guess.

The LINK tag is unnecessary in IE or Firefox. Not sure about other browsers. As long as the favicon.ico is in the root of the current domain it'll work. Clankiller.com uses that trick, for instance (though not the forums).

And google rocks. :)

@ Sat'

As I see, it won't work without the link tag in Opera and don't work in IE6.0 by default. Maybe if you set some parameter in order to force browser to allways check for favicon.ico. Otherwise not. Eh?
