heh, ignore J, he's just mad that he's ignorant.

Anyway, what you're probably talking about is msconfig. Unfortuanetly, MS-Config doesn't exist in windows 2000. In fact, the only way to really get at the start up programs to disable them is going through the registry and deleting their keys. If you're interested :

Go to start | run
type regedit
open up HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run

highlight the run key and on the right you should see basically all the programs that run at startup. There is, unfortuanetly, no way to disable them. All you can do is delete the key. So, my suggestion would be to backup the key before you mess with it.

To do that, just highlight it, go to File, then export and save it. If you decide you want to restore it to the way it was, just double-click the exported file.

Other places to look are also:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunOnce
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunOnceEx

most stuff should be in that first key, though.

There's a few other places start-up programs can hide, but this is where they typically are. I hope that helps.
