http://www.wowinterface.com/downloads/i ... cyFix.html Copied this from DA forum, so if anyone finds this useful feel free to comment on it. The website pretty much covers it all so im not going to summarize it. |

hmm, neat. I didn't realize Windows bundled tcp acks into pairs. For those (like me) who like to know what it does more precisely, it adds a few registry values under: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Tcpip\Parameters\Interfaces for all subkeys (there's one for each "network interface", which is more than just NICs) it adds a DWORD called TcpAckFrequency and sets it to 1. Here's a Microsoft KB Article on the effect http://support.microsoft.com/kb/328890/ Basically it's like the page states... tcp acks are queued up to be sent in groups or when a timer expires. By default, it either sends the acks in pairs, or sends an ack after a 200ms delay. I checked over the install script (god I hate VB) and it's all on the up and up. I didn't take the time to look at the others. |

Cool. Anything that's latency-dependent and uses TCP as the protocol should benefit. Too bad must games are UDP. And stuff like file transfers, telnet, ftp and web browsing could care less about latency. Oh well. |

Valve games can be forced to use TCP. Ill look for more instructions. EDIT: https://support.steampowered.com/kb_art ... -QOSV-5250 Well this only sets steam itself to use TCP. not sure if it helps games. |
