Post subject:  digital cameras

So, I'm in the market for a digital camera. I'm looking for something that's at least 8 mega pixel, has a good ISO range, is in a point-and-shoot format (ie, nothing honking huge, no DSLR), and can shoot 720p video @ at least 30fps.

If anyone has any good recommendations that aren't Sony, I'd like to hear it. I've kinda eying the Canon SX200.

I'm not concerned about price.

Was kinda in the same situation (but smaller budget) some good 5 years ago, but i'm now very out of touch with the market. I ended up with a mid range compact (Canon A80) which they obviously dont make any more. It was (and still is) a great camera. Easy to use, enough options, superb shots.

Can't really recommend anything but that Canon of yours looks very sexy. Super compact and casual.

12 MP ??!! Jeez they're getting crazy.

Hehe, yea, the megapixel war is pretty funny. The detail of the pictures is pretty retarded for the most part, but in some circumstances can be very helpful... ie, zooming a specific part of the photo, or using it for textures. Anyway, thanks anyway... I figured no one here would probably be of much assistance, but it never hurts to ask. :P

Ox probably takes pictures with his medieval phone.

Lol, someone asked Ox what technology his camera uses ... he said Oil on canvas?

I just received my new camera. Canon SX1 IS.

Its a cross between compact and DSLR. It is a compact camera but it has many features you wouldn't normally find on a compact camera. From the size point of view its largish.

It can do 1080p @ 30fps video though.

Bitches, I got a new phone! I spent a whole 60€ on it too! My old phone's display started going loco so I needed to buy a new one...gave it a week to recover but it never did. Now I have a phone with a camera, and bluetooth. Wooo. I can't remember the serial so I'll post a pic later. Still Nokia, of course.

So stick that oil painting up your collective pipe and smoke it, hoes. :P

heh...nice camera Peltz. It's a bit bigger than what I was looking for, but 1080p video is a pretty nice feature. Unfortunately if it' not small enough to stick in a pocket, I'd never take it anywhere. Nice to see at least one person here has a real camera, though.

lol@Ox's defensiveness.

In fairness I have a nice camera, but then again it was a gift :) And it's pink! Satis knows me so well. It is a cannon SD1100IS :) Now I just need the waterproof case for it. Then I'll be set.

Well, yes, of course you have a nice camera. I bought it for you, after all. It just doesn't do high def video or I'd probably buy another.
