Ok what im looking for is a good mobo, which supports sli but it is not too expensive. All suggestions are welcome. |

If you dont have a particular CPU in mind, i recommend the AMD 64 skt 939 for this moment in time. There is absolutely no justification for buying a Pentium at all. As for a skt 939 mobo, i'd recommend: Asus A8N-SLi SE nForce4 SLi (Socket 939) PCI-Express Motherboard (~£85 from overclockers.co.uk) This board was ~£125 in January and was number 1 in the mobo top 3 of PCGAMER. I was actually considering upgrading my system mobo last week, and this would have been the mobo i would have upgraded to. I don't think you can go wrong with Asus either. |

3 Brands I would buy hands down in order based on most trusted. I currently use/have used all 3. MSI <- best overall INTEL <- most stable ABIT <- great board Brands I would consider based on price but not experiance only word of mouth and reviews Chaintech <-heard goods things DFI <-same as above Brands I would/will never buy(again) ASUS <- sucks and usually most expensive. I will never buy this again ever BIOSTAR <-crap dont waste your time. anything else <-- if its in this category your better off with what you got. Price difference in motherboards isnt that big so it really doesnt matter. Buying a board with SLI is already going to push you in the upper price range for motherboards so go with the top 3. |

I have an ASUS motherboard and have no problems with it. A7n8 or something like that...I can't recall anymore. :p Anyway, avoid Iwill like the plague. First board I ever bought, and horrible! HORRIBLE! |

First let me tell you my personal Asus story. So I had a ASUS board. This board had very good ratings(by reviewers not users) I dont remeber the exact brand right now cause Im at work but it was for a P4 (pre-ht) 2.4 ghz 533fsb motherboard. That the way the motherboard was label on the box and when I bought it. When I got it, the default setting for the motherboard was to run at 400mhz fsb. You had to go into the BIOS and change it to 533mhz. No problem for me but still a extra step to set up an advertised "533 fsb" motherboard. So, I get it, install WFA on it and start playing. All is find and dandy until, I get reboots. So I go through the usual troubleshooting stuff. I even fresh format and reinstall windows. Still rebooting. So I change the FSB back to the default 400mhz, still problems After about 3-6 months of dealing with this problem and extensive research I find out that the board revision in the reviews is different than the revision I have. It seems ASUS sent a "special" board to reviewers then shipped out a "revised" board to consumers. The revised board lacked some heat sinks and other small odds and ends to apparently save a buck. On top of that, the clocking speed in the mother board was bugged. What you had to do was test every clock speed starting at 400mhz and work your way up until you found a stable clock speed. So I had to start at 400mhz, test, if it rebooted I had to increase the clock speed by 1mhz and test again. Rinse repeat until I found a clock speed that was stable. After days of testing I finally found one. Screw ASUS in the ass Thats my personal story. I have had other case from my IT career where asus caused problems. My most recent reason for still steering clear of ASUS is their A8N-SLI motherboad has issue with Antec new Neo Power power supply. |

Buy Dell! Err... no. Buying a Dell mobo would be like going to your own circumcision, only to find the rabbi is a butcher with parkinsons disease. |

Ok i will post the budget computer specs by the end of the week or on monday. The final choice was for Abits k8n sli mobo i think. I dont have the papers atm so i dont know. Anyway, i will post the specs so you can comment on it. All i know for sure its socket 939 and has sli capability (the way of the future)
