Post Mr. GFreeman's digital camera
Ok. Time to buy something at last. I have read this thing but I would like to hear a bit of tips of your own. Let say I shot on one 6-7 Megapixels thing with 2*** x (> 1024) resolution.

1. What is the hierarchy of deserved trust for the following companies: Samsung, SONY, CANON, KODAK, Olympics, Hewlett Packard, Photosmart?

2. What would be the recommended diameter of ocular?

3. I wish to photograph the things that are very close as well as the lanscapes. What should I be aware of?

4. What about the extended power supply? Must I use batteries? If there is a way to get some thing that one can plug on the standard city voltage and have it providing the power to the cam?

5. More tips?

1. I have a Canon, and I like it. It's been reliable. I hate HP, so I'd avoid Hewlett Packard. Other than that, I can't say.
2. Does it matter? I dunno.
3. Optical zoom is important if you're looking at zooming. Digital zoom is lame and you may as well ignore it as a 'feature'. Other than that, I don't know anything.
4. I'd rather hava batteries. Rechargeable things tend to hold less charge and get crappier as time goes on. If you're swapping out batteries, you don't need to worry about that (though you may have to carry spare batteries).
5. Nope.

Samsung, SONY, CANON, KODAK, Olympics, Hewlett Packard, Photosmart?

1. Canon, Olympus, Sony, Kodak, HP

2. The bigger the better.

3. Totally ignore digital zoom. Anything below 3x optical zoom is very limiting. Go for something with a Macro function. Buy a telephoto extension lens for super close up.

4. Rechargables suck. Go for disposables, they last longer. I always carry around 4 spare AA's. To me, thats noi fuss.

5. There are low, medium, high and pro category cameras. Forget pro's unless youre a pro. They will cost minimum £600. In reality 4MP is sufficient. Keep an eye on 'shutter delay time' this is the amount of time between pressiung the shutter button and when the foto will be stored. Have a look at Minolta too.

In addition to that, ill also give you a summary of my experience with digital cameras.

When you ask, 'What should i get?'. This answer revolves around relevance to the following major points:

1. Forget your budget.

2. Instead, choose a camera 'range'. Low end, Medium, High End or Pro. Pro costs alot money. Were talking your equivalent of minimum £600. These are called mainly SLR cameras. The chances are that you really want good quality photos, go for high or medium end. Forget low end.

3. Manufacturer brands are quite important. The digital photography market has integrity when it comes to brands. You can rely on Canon, Fuji, Minolta and Olympus mainly. They are photography kings. There are smalled brand out there that have actually made excellent cameras. But they have also made some rather mediocre ones too. What im saying is that if you go with a big brand, you cant go wrong too much.

4. Zoom - As i said, ignore digital zoom features. Only consider optical zoom. There tends to be a lot of cameras with either ~3x or ~11x. Anything below 3x, forget. You also need to keep in mind that taking photos at high zoom with the camera in your hands is not easy. There are some cameras that have a function called ~antishake. But the best thing to do is use a tripod for the best photo.

5. Memory - Youll find that most cameras come with low amounts of memory to store photos. I am 90% sure that if youre an enthusiastic photo taker, youll need atleast a 128MB card. Or preferably a 256MB. I have been on a 2 day holiday and totally filled out my 128MB card! Memory cards arent cheap.

6. Resolution - For enthusiastic use, totally disconsider anything below 3MP. 4MP will allow you to have very high res photos ~(2000*1800). Which is well suffient to view on monitors fullscreen.

7. Batteries - I have heard some bad things about internal rechargable batteries. If you go for a camera that takes standard batteries, you cannot go wrong. Just keep one spare set with you all the time in case you run out of energy. The flash and LCD will mostly drain your batteries.

8. Style - Consider what style of camera you actually need. Are you going to take naturist photos? I this case you can choose an SLR (style!) camera. It has the look and feel of an SLR, but it isnt. Or do you want to use it in a night club? In that case you need something smaller and sexier. Personally, i have a camera that kind of in the middle.

9. Shutter time - Very important! This is the time it will take for the camera to become ready for the next shot straight after the previous. If it is long, you will have great difficulties shooting Action shots.

10. Functionality - You will find that almost all high end cameras will probably have a Function Dial. This is the wheel you flick though to change camera settings. Setting like AV, P, C1, C2, Auto. The dial is very useful.

lol, you pervy fellow. You know what i mean.

No, but im glad you bought this up Ox, because although naturist shots require a good wide lens, taking a picture of your 'nature' will need a good super-macro function with telephoto lens. :)

Note: In case it wasnt obvious, i was mocking your small penis.

Well, ... öhm ...

Two people meet in the Athkatla swers.
One is an Thief and the other is an Paladin.
The thief ask the paladin what he thinks
about one single penis wishing to mock him.

Surprised, paladin just got blush and asked
the thief if he is an gay. :P

'twas not directed to Ox.
