jesus, what a spec..

the only comment i can make is that you have plenty of graphics power but a slightly weak processor. still, thats 2 off us keeping a close eye on the process of XP64.

but 2 x 6800 ultras..1600 x 1200 smooth as silk, whatever the game at the moment :D

keep an eye out for the dual-core Athlon64s. Should be socket 939 compatible with a bios upgrade, and the pure power....

Nice machine.

How much did it set you back?

It carries a quite hefty cost around 2100$. And thats with massive discount :D. I had to optimize it a little, for example the CPU, there was a rediculous price difference between 3200 and 3500, the minor boost doesnt compansate the price difference.

True...I always wonder who actually buys those things. The highest-range parts that are hideously expensive and offer minor improvement compared to their predecessors I mean. At first I thought complete pc n00bs, but they just buy pre-made compaq and dell stuff. So the ppl who build (or compile, anyway) their own systems should be knowledgeable enough to realize it isn't worth it...so that leaves us with

pc nerds who swim in cash.

The myseries of life.

I built a cutting edge system once....didn't spend as much as Peltz or anything, but still, it was a bit of cash. I had to do it just once. Now I'm happy a couple steps behind cutting edge.

That's the beauty of computers. You spend one big chunk, and it'll last you for a while. Next time you need to upgrade, it'll only cost a few hundred instead of about a grand.
