The code goes from being beautiful to being dirty. The time crunch got me. In the end I was just brute-forcing everything. It works, and as far as users are concerned it's probably fine, but the code part is anything but elegant.
Once I do my presentation tomorrow, I'll probably post the .fla. Who knows, maybe someone can get some use out of it. And it shows my support for the open-source community.
