if you want stability, run Linux if you want user friendly/pretty run XP if you want MacOS.... ![]() There's a Mac emulator for PC, but the performance is shizzy and it's not 100% (nor will it probably ever be). |

Thanks. Had a look at some Mac emulator stuff and i concur, it looks shady. Im running XP home SP2. Im just tired of Windows. I would mind paying like £150 for a Mac Panther version for PC. Nothin like that exists, except if you buy a mac. Guess ill have to find a job. |

Ok, next question. Why do you want to run Mac OS? Do you realize that going with anything other than Windows is going to cut your gaming ablility down like 90%? |

agreed. MacOS sucks. If you wanna try out a different O/S, dual-boot Linux. If you're interested in computer science at all, Linux is where it's at (or where it's going, at least). Plus you can dual-boot. :p You also have the choice of ten billion freakin windows managers, meaning you can chance the look of the Linux gui whenever you're bored. Not to mention the power of a multi-tasking commandline. *purrrr* I really need to get off my ass and dual-boot my boxes...WinXP/Linux (maybe debian) on my main box and WinXP/Win2k3 on my server. heheheh. |

I want Mac OS because ive heard so many good things about it. Reliability, blah blah blah. I know its a bummer that its not so good with the games, but hey, im willing to compromise. And yes, sounds like Linux is a good option too. Ive been considering it for a long time, all i need now is a way to get hold of it. Just exploring the OS world thats all. |

Well alot of games have been and will be produced, atleast mmo games, where you can play on the same server with winxp users but the diff is that they will crash alot more often ![]() |

If you have XP and your system "crashes" then either you messed something up or you have bad hardware. XP has run perfect for me. I have no need to change OS's. I never crash. About a year or so ago my pc was rebooting when I would play a game, it was a bad motherboard. Anything below XP yea, your gonna crash. 2 cents |

Sometimes its not even hardware related, i mean i can run my computer for 2 weeks without significant loss in performance (thanks to satis guide) and in that time i play different games (opening and closing them but not closing the computer meaning it will run 24h) but Planetside just wont run more than 4h, its max ive got this far. Usually it hits the bucket in 2.5h of playtime. Even after the patch. (which btw fu**ed up everything as usual) |

If there will ever be a MacOS port to the pc I hope it's done better then their iTunes port to Windows... wich is one of the least efficient pieces of software I've ever seen. |

I agree. It takes forever to load up. |

I hate itunes. Anyway, Peltz, sounds like your planetside install is goofed up. Which, knowing MMORPGs, is probably the fault of the app and not your computer. Can't help poorly coded software. It'll bring down a Linux system too. ![]() Where to get Linux: May I suggest you get Mandrake? It's the most newbie-friendly distro I'm aware of. The download is free: http://www.mandrakelinux.com/en/ftp-premium.php3 Don't pay for it. Alternately, google it and you may even find the dvd/6cd version. But bleh, there you go. Linux == free (unless you choose to buy it, of course) |
