hehe, I think they took away the extra legs Shiny...if not I would have sent ya the 6-legged freak. ;)

@ Satis: mm..I'll have to check this Northbridge or something stuff. No clue what or how it is but i'll find it online I'm sure. :)

I personally think it's either the mobo or gpu. The HD makes this gravel-ish sound sometimes but that wouldn't give me these kind of errors, imo. (BSOD + failure to boot because too hot)

Gah...I'm just gonna play some more games Friday and in the weekend and see what happens, if I don't find anything. I got a warranty so I should be realtively safe.

look on the motherboard...there should be a little chipset fan on it. That's what I'm talking about. Make sure the fan works.

AND NO MORE PETS!

Yeah, think you and I have the same mobo Peltz (A8N-E? I don't have the SLI edition of course), so i'll check it.

Just wanted to mention...after doing the stuff I needed to do first today I fired up GW to test. Started, streamed some files, got to char screen, chose monk, loaded up, ran around the mission area a bit (2 minutes).

Chose henchies, started mission...30 seconds into the mission, game and pc freeze up. :? No BSOD though!

Reboot, without problems this time. Mmm. Time for serious checking the hardware I suppose....gaah.

So, an update. I was gonna turn my pc in for repairs yesterday, but before doing so I decided to play another game than GW and see if that crashes - just to make sure. Because the problems the GW crashes caused seemed very clearly heat-related.

So, I fire up on of the most demanding games on my pc, Oblivion. I play for 1.5h straight...no crash. :?: I'm thinking..mm. I play some more Oblivion a day later, 2 hours or more...no crash.

Today I fire up a few other rather demanding games: Call of Duty II (for about 1.5h) and no crash. Then F.E.A.R. for about an hour. NO CRASH!!

Sooo...assuming that F.E.A.R and Oblivion are waaaaay more demanding of my sexy little pc than GW and don't make it crash, I'm left thinking "wtf?". I might add that upon leaving Oblivion or F.E.A.R my asus tool says both CPU and Mobo are below 40° C. Not exactly a fiery pit.

Logical deduction dictates that GW is the problem. But then, the symptoms I get after it crashes (failure to reboot/reboot and hang after a few seconds, then rebooting fine an hour later) are totally heat-ish. Could GW be using a particular part of my setup more than another causing it to overheat?

And yeah, I updated the drivers for my gfx card before I last tried GW and it crashed as it did before. Wtf?

Did you search the GW forums about your problem?

It doesn't make alot of sense, no. But then again, alot of things don't make any sense until you figure them out, so :p. Sorry I can't be of further assistance...I imagine you've scandisked/defragged. Or chkdsk, whatever.

If it's specific to GW, it may be a bad install...maybe some part of the graphics interface got corrupted. You could always uninstall/reinstall.

Yeah, that was the plan. I'm gonna do that in a bit...I just wanted to see what you bitches had to say first. :)

And Arathorn...prolly a good idea. Can't seem to find the official forums yet tho. Kinda weird. But it's probably just me being crap at navigating sites. ;)

Yeah, so, I reinstalled GW and everything seems to run fine now...let's pray it was just a fucked up install or something. Shouldn't be impossible given GW's stream-ness.

I'm watching out though...the time the problems occared it was a lot warmer than it is now (25° then, 10-15° now) so maybe it'll happen again once summer kicks in for real. Stay tuned. :P

I fire up my pc this morning and it makes a fucked up noise again...clearly a fan going bad.

Open up the case, check fans, find out it's the chipset cooling mini fan again...gah. The same one I had replaced a few months ago. Gah!

I flicked it with my finger and it went silent again (it kept turning too :p for the record) but that means it's gonna totally be fucked in a bit. Mmm.

After having the same fan fail twice in a row, would you recommend getting a passive cooler for it? I even think peltz had the same fan fail twice on the same mobo too...not sure.

if you can find a passive cooler for it, sure. Or see if you can just get another fan yourself and mount it...something not supplied by whoever your shitty manufacturer is.

Or just buy a new mobo. :p

If I were a rich man, I would :P

It's Asus btw. Should be passive coolers that fit there.
