I do have PCI-E.
I found out what dual-slot means. It is the number of slots the card takes at the back of the case. It only uses one PCI-E slot. See what i mean?

Okay, my mobo is definately backwards. I have 3 options.
1 - Mod the case. (need to check dimensions).
2 - Buy a single slot card.
3 - Clip off any capacitors that get in the way.

oh...you have a card that takes 2 slots? That's easy. I thought you meant for SLI.
Anyway....what, you don't have two empty slots next to each other or something? You shouldn't have to mod anything to get it to fit...the cooler just sticks down into the next slot down, making it impossible to put a card in it. Just scoot any existing cards around to make room and you should be good.
note...all gfx cards hvae their cooler pointing down.

No, my coolers face up. Top card is PCI-E, next one down is free PCI and bottom is sound PCI. See?

This is what i mean by 'mod'.
But as i said, im 95% sure of going for a single slot solution now. Just want to see how hard you laugh Sat.

huh...well, isn't that some shit. I guess double-size cards are a bad idea in PCI-E systems. How retarded. I can't believe that PCI-E card manufacturers want it to work this way. In a similar situation, given no alternatives, I'd probably mod the case. You have a dremel?

lol, no man, i don have a dremel, just a bunch of sharp blades. (made in USA).
Anyway, ive bought the single slot GTX.
Its not that PCI-E sucks. I just have a very particular mobo.

Just noticed, ive been playing older games at max graphics setting and in general theyve been running less well than shit-hot-new titles. How very strange. I think this has got to do with the card mainly adapting new technologies rather than boosting performance of old ones. Who knows.
For example, my card totally pwns these ar max detail:
Farcry, CoD2, FEAR, Doom3.
Yet it doesnt pwn these:
OpFlash, Vampire Bloodlines, SWAT4, RTW.
Strange, i think its a software issue.

I bet you those old games are being held back by your processor, not your vid card. Try switching resolutions to large ones...if your framerate stays the same, it's a CPU bottleneck.
Alternately, I have no idea.

In 50 years time, someone will install Bloodlines on their brand new high end gaming rig and think 'something must be wrong with my grfx card...'.

Older games run poorly for many reasons.
1) they do not recognize the technology
2) they most defenatly have fps locks
3) Stone-age dos games say f... y.. to your new powerhouse
I tried to run apocalypse on my system, so many problems i wouldnt know where to begin

Get one of those virtual pc apps and run MS-DOS in it. Should work. Only problem is clocking....alot of those older games ran as fast as the processor would let then, which was cool when your pc ran at 8mhz. But makes it impossible to play at 3ghz.
