No steel/cement in the ceiling.

O/S-wise, it might make it easier to go to WinXP, but not necessary.
Otherwise...you need the wireless router and wireless nics. Other than that, it's not too hard.

Re: 4 Node Wireless Broadband Networking (Yay, fun!)
ok so you have internet access coming in through the phone line.
Then in that case the correct terminolgy would be to say "I need help setting up a wireless "network" not "broadband"
Broadband refers to your "internet" connection. What you do inside your house to connect computers to your internet/broadband connection is set up a "network"
Thats where I was confused because Verizon Wireless now have "Wireless broadband" internet.

ah right. i didnt mention it because i heard there was a solution that didnt need a network.
One more thing. Someone mentioned security to me. Because apparently someone nextdoor can use the wireless signals to steal the bandwidth.
Any security tips?

Turn on WEP.
Don't broadcast your SSID.
Get a router/nics that supports AES (if possible).
Do MAC address authentication on the router side.
Set up a domain and require domain authentication for anyone to access network resources.
I think that's about all you could do.

Update:
Just got the router.
Okay so the guide says i need to connect it to Power (duh), Phone jack, and computer.
Why do i need to connect the wireless router to a computer?
I thought the whole idea was that the router would send signals to network wirelessly? Now it seems that one computer will have to be always on.
What the fuck?

? Phone jack? Are you talking rj45, ethernet?
All wireless routers I've screwed with do not require a hardwire to a pc. I dunno wtf you've got.

Hehe, i'm looking forward to lay down the pwnage on you!! (or attempt to, anyway..) I'll see if I can find the address of a pal of mine's clanserver too, just to make sure we don't have to wade through 153564 servers full of n44bs first.

Its not so much n00bz now. Have you seen the majority of the servers? Theyre full of botz! That just sucks, its a pain in the ass trying to find a server with REAL people playing. That is, if you consider 12yr old AWP wh0rez 'real people'.
Anyway, ive been playing this, and im getting pretty much the same ping as i used to on my old 300k connection. I cant get a better ping than 30 with a 2Mb DSL connection. Wtf is up with that?
