Oh you'll get involved, it gets more interesting towards the end. For a while it seems you're just killing off contract after contract but then...everything suddenly starts to make a lot more sense and the storyline goes in overdrive. It's worth it!
And where are those pics!! I demand pics!

hehe i had the same problem satis when I bothered to actually listen to him first, which is why i ended up reloading and attacking him as soon as i entered the temple far easier, he can't get prepared or get any spells off.

can you do that? I tried attacking him once and I couldn't until I talked to him. My arrows just kinda bounced off his face. Unless maybe I missed or something and just assumed it was like that. From then on I'd run up, talk to him, then whack him...unfortuanetly, drawing back a bowstring took long enough he always managed to move and summon something. Bastard. I hate that guy. But I did gank some badass rings from his kids, plus his robe and staff.

haha, it wasn't easy for me either man, I just didn't mention I had to do it 10 times
Because I was having the same problem using my vanilla weapons (him healing before I could execute him) I enchanted my dagger with a shock dmg sigil stone I hate in my inventory; that did the trick. It was still hard as he likes to run (bitch!) but he went down a LOT faster. His kids were pathetic...my reflect dmg/magic was enough to keep them busy.
Btw, Paradise was kinda cool. But I think they could have made it much cooler. The voiceover by erh, 'the dude' was neato, but I wanted more 'paradise' elements!! Preferrably with a deadly side to it...the best sort of paradise.

did you see the kid's rings? You can't wear two, unfortuanetly, but it's like reflect 30%, magic resist 50%. Very nice.

Oh yeah, ring of the mundane right? I think that is my favorite ring. Coupled with a shield of mirrors you pwn magic attacks!

hmmm think i missed those rings (due to killing him first, think they kinda die and disappear), either that or they just spawned with crap on But I do have a few shielding/reflecting things anyway so no great loss i guess

Pev, not that I mention that you didn't know it, but all of your images and all videos except one are dead like slaughterfish in goblin's plate.

 Re: Oblivion - Pev
NECRO! (yes, I know, it's banned in Cyrodil) I figured why start a new thread. I downloaded the remaster last night (my internet sucks, it took about 11 hours ) and created my new character today. I asked a friend to give me a build so I have gone Block, Heavy Armour, Armourer, Destruction, Sneak, Speechcraft and Mercantile. They've changed the levelling system so you no longer have to maximise your build to get extra perks or strategise what you raise. You get 12 points to spend each level (I know this because I hit level 4, oh yeah) and it seems you can place them into 3 attributes per level up. All skills give you experience now, the reason to choose major skills is that they start higher. I'm not sure if they still raise more easily too. It looks great and still feels like old Oblivion. I'm running it on 'High' settings right now so not maxed out. There are still pauses as you hit 'server lines' which I didn't expect. I dunno what they've done to the character running though, even the normal jog has them leaning forwards like they're about to faceplant, and the sprint is some weird almost horizontal zooming with arms swinging wildly. I haven't done much yet. Broke out of the sewers of course, had a quick jaunt around the city, then headed over to the Bloated Float and have ended up out at sea due to renting a room on the boat just as a gang hijacked it. I'm enjoying being back in Cyrodil. After I got back to land, I took the amulet to Jauffre then headed to Anvil where I've taken on a pilgrimage to get the Crusader Relics. Along the way I stopped to inspect a few random ruins, though didn't venture into any yet. Before I'd left the Imperial City I did speak to the orc who owns the Handy Chestnut stables, who gave me an old nag and some horse armour for free (yes, the dreaded horse armour). The characters are still sort of potato faced but less so/more realistically. I've seen some total abominations that people have made so far, but also some really amazing ones. They've made a few other changes, such as the speechcraft minigame, which still plays the same, but after your first go round of it on an NPC, it now colours the sections so you don't have to remember "top/bottom bad". I still find myself memorising it though, it's just an old habit now. Lockpicking is still identical. The voices are smoother and they're recorded a bunch of new actors, so each race has a different voice now. Which means, so far, I haven't encountered any beggars who say one line like a haggard old woman then the next like some 15 year old boy. The UI is more Skyrim like, but with some Oblivion stylings to it; the inventory etc is still that parchment effect, it simply sits in the Skyrim black screen. World-wise, it's not quite as vibrant as it was, but it sure looks beautiful. You can see the aurora over Skyrim if you look towards the Jerrall mountains, and I've seen screenshots of people who've headed as far north as they can, and you can see the Throat of the World in the distance. Overall, it's a welcome addition in my eyes, and makes a change from yet another Skyrim release.

 Re: Oblivion - Pev
Wow, this thread really is old. Interesting you've started a replay. I saw they were releasing a remaster but I'm not particularly interested. Glad you seem to be having fun though. I look forward to hearing of your exploits... it's been so long since I played I can barely remember what happened.

 Re: Oblivion - Pev
I don't remember much either. I've jumped into the original Oblivion a few times, most recently just last year, but only ever done the main quest once. As far as I'm concerned it goes Emperor dies > Horrifically annoying fight through Kvatch Oblivion gate > Gather some armies > Some other Oblivion Gate with the armies > Martin turns into a big yellow dragon to banish Mehrunes Dagon. But other people keep going on about the Mythic Dawn and what great antagonists they are, and I'm here thinking "Ok... aren't they the red robed dudes who turn up in the tutorial only?" I do remember how incredible I found the Dark Brotherhood questline though, and also a quest where you go into a painting.
I'm really enjoying picking it back up again, with shinier graphics. I thought the old one still looked pretty decent, considering its age, but this one is pretty wow. It's making use of UE5. The lighting effects look great; if I throw a fireball at the ground it remains smouldering, and the whole feel of the world changes if it's sunny, raining, thundering, dawn, dusk etc. The underlying jank is still there though; NPCs walking into each other, hearing the same few lines over and over again, lightly brushing against a table and suddenly the entire shops contents are bouncing everywhere... and the Kvatch oblivion gate is still a bitch to complete. I did it last night and ended up speedrunning through half of it.
I reached level 10 last night. I'd missed the flavour text of levelling up. Going to sleep and getting a message like "It finally all feels like it makes sense. Everything feels just that little bit easier to do" just adds that something extra to the roleplay aspect rather than Skyrim's "You did a thing! Go look in a menu and decide what you suddenly want to be able to do!" Instead, I'm running round the world and suddenly get a "You reached 25 acrobatics, now you can dodge!"

 Re: Oblivion - Pev
Yea, I still remember Morrowind very fondly for that kind of thing... run/jumping my way across the world so I can get better at running and jumping. I'd love to see a new Elder Scrolls that recaptures more of that magic... but without the jank.
