Dont give me any of this crap like, "It depends on how you want to play it". What do you think is the best party for IWD2?

Yup, hit the spot there Inqui. The idea being that in HoF spellcasters become VERY important, and fighters to a large extent useless-er. One mega-tank is enough to distract and take the blows while the casters cast. He/she don't have to hit anything, just make sure your casters aren't targetted. In that view, i'd make the tank a dwarven barbarian with humungous CON.

In normal mode you just take a "standard" party, with a spellcaster or two, a cleric/druid, a bard, rogue and 2 fighter-chars. Combinations and subraces are arguable ofcourse, but that's the backbone of a good party right there. (again, for non-HoF)

With regards to the normal mode party, make the druid and cleric fairly decent fighters, the druid with halberds and spears perhaps, and the cleric with full plate armour and a mace or hammer. That's more than enough for a normal party.

Interesting ideas, they all end up similar to the one i eventually chose.

1. Paladin (human). Need someone with charisma.
2. Barbarian (dwarf). The tank.
3. Cleric (Human). The protector.
4. Wizard (Elf). Artillery.
5. Sorceror (Elf). Artillery.
6. Rogue/Wizard (Elf). Need someone that can "lockpick".

Can't you let your paladin or barbarian do the "lockpicking"?

Post subject:

Hmmmmm, never actually thought of that one. Even if a paladin/barbie have low lockpick skills, will they be effective enough to open every chest?

Well, in NWN, my monk and Daelan always manage to bash open all chests. I don't know about IWD2, but that 3rd edition rules too isn't it?

With the mage/rogue, make it a tiefling. The extra dex and int helps. And take no more than 5 levels of rogue, you will have enough points from his/her 19 int to get thief skills.
