Current party: Wild Mage Monk Keldorn Aerie Minsc Jan I`m about to enter Bodhi`s gauntlet, and the dilemma Jan VS Imoen is playing. Now i know Imoen is mighty annoying, but i`m also considering switching Minsc for Sarevok ultimately (since i never took Sarevok with me, so i can do the soul thingie with imoen if i`m picking him up as well). I`m getting a bit tired of Jan`s speeches as well, so i`m not planning to keep him for amusement only(that`s why i picked him up in the first place). So the real question is: Does Jan add something to the team that Imoen doesn`t, does levelling in thief brings something good? Jan is now illusionist lvl 13 and imoen will be mage lvl 13 as well. Also for the future: will Sarevok be an addition compared to Minsc? Or a worthy substitute (apart from running experience behind probably)? |

You get some nice traps with thiefs on high level, and the use any item skill. And I believe Imoen can't open all locks in ToB. The con of Jan is that he can't memorise spells like Horrid Wilting and Death Spell. Sarevok can kick some mayor ass, I don't know about Minsc though, I never had him with me for a long time. |

First off, Sarevok kicks enormous amounts of ass...Misc can do some serious damage dual-wielding flail of the ages+ Crom Faeyr, but give Sarevok a good two-handed sword and your enemy is in for a world of hurting. ![]() Imoen and Jan...if you're going to go with Sarevok it's best to have Imoen tag along. She has some good banters with Sarevok, as a co-bhaalspawn. ![]() ![]() Planning on a BG game with a party of only bards, should be fun. ![]() |

And the monk is your best answer to enemy spellcasters. The Monk in my game (protagonist) has 103% magic resistence. ![]() |

Monk and wizard slayer...you should see them taking on liches on their own, after 10 seconds theyc an barely fire off another spell because of the slayer's cumulative %'s of spell failure. ![]() |

Keldorn can`t cast spells (apart from special abilities like dispel magic and true seeing, which i use very often) since he`s some special class dunno inquisitor maybe. So if i switch minsc for sarevok, i`ll have 3 characters that don`t cast spells. So i could use a good second mage i, so i decided to take Imoen along. Just entered the Underdark, already found myself a timestop spell woohoo. Now i can finally start to own big time. I think i waited too long to depart to chapter 3, since i`m already gaining special abilities. So basically i was already owning ![]() There`s also a new (lvl9) spell that gives you extra spell slots for 24 hours. I think that it works well with the Reckless Dweomer spell, before i go to sleep increase my spell slots heavily, can`t be bad. I bet i can abuse this ![]() |

Hehe i just did a little experiment, still hadn`t used my lvl1 spells and decided to expand my memory a bit. So before i slept i tried to cast that spell, result in the end was that i had an extra lvl 6, 7 and 8 spell, 2 extra lvl 8 spells and 2 times 2 extra lvl 9 spells ... ![]() The effect last for 24 hours btw. And by abusing it you can create an über-mage .. i think there`s also an effect that adds 3 lvl 1 spells .. so if you play a bit with it i bet you can cast maybe 15 comets and timestops, not even mentioning horrid wiltings .. cool ![]() |
