 I confess...
So....i finally installed NWN. Had it lying around for a while (from way before i got my good pc even lol), but only now i installed it. I just played tru the tutorial which i could have skipped in hindsight. Ah well...we'll see how i fare.
If anyone has any tips or something, shoot! I don't got SoU installed but i have it, and i'll prolly be able to get a hold of hordes of the underdark soon.
First impression of NWN is...weird. and i hope the 3d surroundigs will get a bit more inspirated outside the tutorial castle.

The NWN OC is wack. I haven't played SoU, but I believe the SoU OC is better. Or download user-made modules, there are hundreds of them, often very good quality.

well, not strictly true.
it just gets really shit it you play it again and again. i wouldn't miss out on playing it, after all it is a 40 odd hour game.
let me guess, dwarf barb? if you're gonna use a greataxe then choose weapon focus in it at character gen, otherwise you'll be waiting a while to pick one up. plus it stops you getting landed with loads of magic clubs..
if you have any questions in mind just go for it, i'm to lazy to type loads of tips.

Well erm... play the tutorial anyway, it's easy XP and stuff. For max XP, leave all enemies behind you till you get to the 'I'll show you how to level up' guy. Then go back, kill them all and you have a bunch of XP. Blah... now I'm too lazy too...
Neway, I liked the NWN Story better than the SoU story, but the SoU OC had MUCH tougher fights and some cool stuff that wasn't in NWN. The Kobold Jumpers part was funny

actually, i'd go one better then that, when you do the tutorial, go through right the way through to the end, killing as little as possible, THEN go back and wack everything.

You can fight him, badly damage him, use the Stone of Recall, go back with the portal (or walk if you're too cheap ) and finish him off. Hmm, you might want to try to do the Beggar's District first. Loads of creatures, not too hard to kill. At least do some quests to get XP.

i don't usually butt heads with loxar until about 5 or 6th level. what character have you gone with? and which henchmen?

Erh...my dwarven barbarian, lvl 3, no henchmen lol
Mebbe i gotta realize this isn't BG2 where i can left-handedly whack an entire army with a barbarian.
But i will take this bitch down, off to give it a few tries.

Ok, Loxar is a bit too tough atm.
So i went and did the Melandar (or sumthing) mission first; was pretty easy. Magical sissie don't got nothing on me.
And i found a nice +1 broadsword, in expectance of a decent greataxe. Seems like you get to kill about everyone without breaking the game, r0x0rs!

Yes, it's impossible to fuck things up in this game.
On Loxar: he's actually pretty easy.
You just need a crossbow and a lot of bolts and run through the whole dungeon, turning round from time to time to shoot.

I don't use ranged weapons. BJ and Inqui will have noticed in BG MP that my tactics are a bit more uhm...simple. Btw, quick question, do you share XP with henchmen? Or do you still get the full amount?

thats a tricky subject
the manual says that you don't, but i tried soloing a fighter and found that i definetly leveled up quicker. plus in the forums people have mentioned that they have reached 20th level. with a henchmen you only reach about 16th-17th. so, yeah, i think you do share.

Ok...so no henchmen for me..didn't have the feeling i needed one so far. Even if the game says "it's impossible to beat the game without a henchman" during the load screens.
I did get tempted to have one of the two women in the mercenary guild tag along, just because of esthetic appreciation.
In the meantime i cleared two huge houses of noblemen and found strange things: a painting at one and a guilded urn at the other, and twice mentioning of someone named Ophela. Prolly some quest i have yet to trigger. Killed Loxar too, what a tough bastard. For an half-orc he's absurdly fast with his scythe. Lvl 4 atm.

I believe you have to trigger that quest in the brothel in the city-core, forgot the name.
