Post Henchmen items
A while ago i remember asking if i could recieve the henchmen items without actually having to run around with them. And i believe bj here told me it didn't work that way.

NOW, i just tried to talk with tomi, had to hire him first of course, but i was high enough lvl to talk through the whole conversation and since i had the item he needed he gave me his ring. Wanted to test if this worked on the others as well, so i went to trade of blades, talked to boddyknock or what's his name since i had his item too, and could finish the whole conversation to give me his ring too.

So i think if you want their items and not their company, you just hire them when your lvl is high enough and you get the item. Blablabla and you can get a very nice item for free, most items boost your stats i believe.

This was new for me, so don't make fun of me if you'd already figured this out ages ago.

mm...news to me.. :? normally you have to go through a whole shitload of conversation, over a few level ups to get to the point where the quest item is made clear and to the point when the henchman will actually recieve it. interesting if you can get everything like that..and it will be interesting to see if you can do it in the later chapters when the items get more powerfull.

gonna have to try that..

I thought that too, according to your previous explanation. But if you just wait untill your lvl is high enough you can finish the whole conversation right away. They will say "not now, wait .." btw, then you have to talk to them again and ask them to catch up where the story ended. So don't think it doesn't work, you just have to talk to them again a couple of times.

I also hope this works in the later chapters as well, my solo rogue could really use everything he can get. I managed to take out the yuan-ti, but it was incredibly hard since he was good in melee AND in spells. But in the end i killed the bastard.

Btw, in the later chapters it's an upgrade of your item right? So if you don't get an item in the first chapter you can forget about getting it in the next chapters?

yeah, thats right, later chapters you have to go through the conversations again and your henchman will upgrade your quest item for you, you don't get another one. i'm wondering whether, if you take a new henchman later in the game, whether you can get the quest item at the level it should be, or the weaker version. i've stuck with the same henchman throughout the game so i don't know the answer to that one :?

i'm in chapter 2 right now, i can't remember if it's now or chp 3 when the next upgrade is done, once it is i'll swap henchman about and experiment a bit.
