Ok sorry you mean the actual dungeon you start off in.
You should have picked up a portal key out of the mistress's room.

do you mean bg2? you need to talk to the sewer golem to unlock the sewer doors first to get to the mistresses room. |

Since he's stuck in the first dungeon, i would classify him as 'noob' probably. Anyway, when you enter the room, a bell will start to sound, so you i think you know if you've been there or not. AH, bj has a point here, maybe you haven't activated the sewer golem yet. In that case you haven't seen that room yet, and you're stuck earlier than i thought. 
anyway, you need a activation stone for that, prolly have found that. then you can go into dialogue with the sewer golem and tell him to start his duty. |
