Hehe planned on changing my Marksman in an Arcane Archer when I read it at the classed page. Didn't knew what it was until now :p Love that guy.

it actually might lead me to change my mind regarding archers, the movement rate really isn't kind in nwn, a few shots off and the enemy is in your face. :?

Try haste + rapid shot + fire arrows. It'll deal quite a lot of damage before the creature finally gets to you, and then you can use your sword. That's what I did.

Prestige class is an extra class. So it's only for high level character, yes, but what's wrong with that?

yeah, the biggest hint at how early you'll get to choose a prestige class is the list of requirements.
i.e. arcane archer needs the ability to cast ist level magic spells, for a paladin or ranger thats 6th level. plus if i remember right, the prestige classes only go up to 10th lvl anyway. (can't be bothered to check. )
