I'm still not totally comfortable with them though, because they all seem too girly for me (bright coloured flashy spells & such). My perfect MMO (the only one i'd probably buy) would one that really, really, grimy & real. With no classes and just a general feeling that although youre among an immensely complex world, you can change it in your own little way, while conducting your taste of morality.

Darkfall is one I'm really looking forward too.

It seems to be Ultima Online meets Oblivion - but it's stuck at a halt because the backers backed out :(

is that why they called em backers?

Anyway, I think Conan will be the grittiest and most adult of the bunch.

I'm afraid LoTR, like basically all things LoTR since the movie, is going to suck.

Tabula Rasa is just a cool name, but somehow makes me think of Second Life, which was lame.

I played DDO... it was too confining to be an MMO, imo. A big part of MMOs is exploring a huge, expansive world. DDO doesn't have that. Or didn't. I dunno if the expansion is going to address that or not.

The reason i dont play DDO is they dont have druids. Everything else is not my style.

If Lotr can provide a nice solid gameplay for a while, im happy, considerin the bullshit buggy releases this far.

I agree about Conan. The gameworld actually feels like a world. Look at the nature, it has that feeling which is not there in alot of other mmos. I just hope they manage to optimize it so that most machines can run it. I like the fast development of computers but unfortunately it is one of the reasons for shity unoptimized code.

Warhammer feels more like Battlefield to me, im not expecting a deep storyline, i just want to be the first on the field smashing an axe into the head of my opponent. (Axe is not a toy, get it in your head).

Ta for that Peltz. Anyhoo yeah GW 2 looks good to me, as does Darkfall (though I've given up following that for a while) and I will, of course, give UO: Kingdom Reborn (www.uo.com) a visit to see just what they do to my fave mmo of all time to spice it up a bit and bring it kicking and screaming into its 10th year. Including the shiny new graphics.

GS: The combat system in Tabula Rasa is pretty interesting, in that it seems a lot faster and more intense than traditional massively multiplayer role-playing combat. At the same time, it's not a flat-out action game that requires fast reflexes. Tell us about how the combat is being "tactical" without using "twitch" action.

RG: We really wanted to make combat in Tabula Rasa feel different than the "whack-a-mole" combat of most online games.

From Gamespot on Tabula Rasa, Interview.

Mole? are you whacked in lots of MMOs? Care to explain? :D
