I'm not looking for BG as such, just the promised spiritual successor. I was falsely led to believe NWN would be that and it sucked, so if DA stands up to it, great. If it doesn't *feel* like BG, I'm not interested. I have enough good rpgs that are nothing like BG to be playing. I don't have enough BG-esque ones though

I think it may very well be that 'spiritual' successor, but at the surface it's a quite different RPG with violence, blood, racism and such. So I'll be interested to see how that turns out.

I saw my first Dragon Age commercial on television (cable) yesterday. It was pretty good. I have a feeling this game will sell like mad and spawn a series of sequels. The main gray warden will fall in love with the limelight, but after a year or two all the alcohol and drugs will take their toll. During the creation of Dragon Age 4: Return of Jean Luc Piccard, he'll have a breakdown on set that'll be posted on the internet. This leads to a public backlash against the grey warden and a downward spiral of depression and alcoholism.
Finally, Uwe Boll will make a movie and the series will be over, except for the few of us that can remember that this was the beginning.

Lol Satis.
It's getting a lot of advertisement at GAME. We've had it above our charts in the preorder spots for 360/PS3 for a few weeks now (not above PC coz stupid Football Manager is there), it's on our in-store promotion DVD that loops and they're doing a lot of adverts on our radio as well in between songs.
I've also recommended it to all our regular RPG customers plus had quite a few customers come in off their own bat and ask to preorder it. Looking good for Bioware.

Judging by the glowing reviews and the rather infantile marketing ploys (the "new shit" trailer, the " girls of dragon age" maxim's spreads), Bioware seem to be hitting right on that coveted vein of gold of selling well to both the hardcore (mostly PC) crowd and the console kiddies. Never thought I'd see that happen, tbh. So kudos if they pull it off.
I don't know how much you guys heard, but I've heard that
a) the PC and Xbox 360 interface are very different
b) you can, if you want to, give your party members incredibly detailed instructions, sequenced "if A then B" stuff and all that. And you can either control your main alone and have the AI handle the rest, or switch between chars to control, etc. Oh and camera can be BG-style zoomed out as well as used to play 3rd person style.
All that is from watching/reading 3rd party reviews, not the DA presskit (which is all boobies and swords anyway). So it's pretty awesome news.

Well that sells to about 96% of console player base anyway (with the exception of wii, who are just brainwashed by Nintendo)

That and the Wii gamers are more often female. They find boobies and swords less appealing than men, mostly. God knows why.

I play a wii. But I love boobies.
Still unhappy with the lack of a multiplayer coop. Even 2-player would be cool. But Bioware said NEIN!

9 player co-op? awesome! hehe
Dragonage isn't on Wii anyway is it? So the boobies and swords strategy should work nicely for everyone really. And yes, I really hope the interfaces are totally different; console interfaces never work well on pc or vice versa. They tried to use PC interface on FFXI... it was horrible, unless you had a usb mouse/keyboard plugged into your 360.

Resident Evil 4. Brilliant game, totally absolutely masterfully fucked up port. I mean the port is such shit that it actually classifies as a masterpiece.

Until Pev pointed out to me that there's quite a few action/violent/übermanlymacho games out on the Wii that would have provoked a prolongued 'muhhhaaaaaaahhhaaahahaha' from me.
/me doesn't get started on bad ports...anger rising, rising..

But on a console it's fucking awesome. As long as you play co-op and not with the stupid AI.
Hmmm that's a point, wonder how retarded the AI will be in Dragon Age...
