oh man, now THAT was a horrible game. I'm amazed it lasted so long, to be honest. Tabula Rasa was much better in comparison.

The same reason SW Galaxies lasted so long, ie crazed fanboys. Business-wise, you're probably better off in the short term releasing a crappy game on a monster license, than a decent one on a new one.

A scary thought for the future, which will likely consist of Blizzard's stable sequels and clones all over the place. And, we can hope, The Old Republic.

Pfft - I LOVED SWG. I seriously didn't do anything but that for like a year and a half. I drank and played SWG. But then again, I got all into the drama - which made me realize how much I hate drama in games. But it was not until the very end of that year and a half that I felt like I had run out of new or fun things to do and I was not a collector of crap (that to me is boring as hell).

So, pfft, don't put SWG in that category. I seriously played it for like at least 12 hours a day - EVERY day. And I still miss the old SWG. Nothing I have played compared to that experience for me. Just having the housing and decorating alone was great. And the costumes / shopping! Then there was getting drunk and killing Night sisters, etc. What good times.

Apparently Final Fantasy 14 is in the works and is the second FF (Fantastic Fail) to tackle the MMO genre. Release is aimed for the middle of 2010.

Global Agenda gameplay. This is a more fast paced, action oriented game where a map is limited to 12 vs 12 but 6 teams compete against an objective, so achieving an opbjective on our map has an effect on the performance on the other team. Sounds ambitious but i'll wait for the reviews.

Huxley: The Dystopia - not so missing in action. Apparently they've moved to the final stages of closed beta. The game is planned as a free to play with microtransactions.

I saw some video from E3 or something and was totally underwhelmed by Huxley. It looks like Quake3. So I'm guessing it'll eventually turn into a persistent Q3 with houses/upgrades you can pay real money for.

I could be completely wrong (god I hope so), but microtransactions to me are a poor business model. I'm not interested in getting pwnt in a game by someone because they paid $20 for an uber-rocket-launcher.
