Update:

after wasting about 7 or 8 Gb of download and half a day effort, i give up. Can't get connected, seems there are major problems/bugs with the launch pad.

So they can't even get people connected to play the game, i think this game isn't going to live very long.

I'm doing a final effort as we speak (having it update for over an hour isn't really very encouraging either), if it doesn't work now i'm going to sink this ship permanently.

Im still downloading the main file from Fileplanet since there are no european mirrors available. Im downloading from US servers.

That was the part that went smooth for me. Download took me about 3 hours i think, i wasn't home so didn't have to wait.

Once you get past that, problems might start. The update takes forever (well over an hour maybe) and then many people get a download error with the launch pad. I've tried a lot of thinks and finally got it to work, don't know how though. I hope you get lucky.

First impression: i like the ship combat so far, not so much a fan of the hand to hand combat. But haven't played that much yet.

Oh i'm a pirate on the second server i think, let me know if you (or anyone else, Pev .. stop playing severance and d'load this ) get into the game. Maybe we can team up. Might try some other nations as well.

Still a pirate, lvl 8 or so i think, still enjoying the ship battles, there's a big economical system as well, dunno if i'll check that out thoroughly or not.

Apparently FLS has conjured up somekind of ridiculous login problem that wont allow large part of the players to log in, at all. And im one of those lucky ones.

I guess SOE has given up on developing its own "World of Warcraft." Instead they produce this halfbaked pile of crap, which is so overhyped that people actually preorder and purchase it. Sony probably has set a quota of how much money the product has to make and then flushes it down the toilet and the circle begins again. While not as profitable as "WoW" it seems to generate enough money to make SOE happy.

EDIT: Uninstalled the game. My prediction: Will die within 1 year after release unless its made free to play.

Yeah that was driving me mad as well. And just when i was going to give up i managed to bypass the problem.

Don't think i'll be playing this game for that long anymore, dunno Maybe i'll try some PvP, but since i suck in sea combat and my ship even sucks harder that might not be my smartest idea.

Well i finally got it to work and played it some. Its fun for a while, very short while. It would be nice if they would do a graphics overhaul withing the first year because well the towns look barely nice, the characters look too cartoony. Character customization is quite good, lots of options there but they look low res or just not bad but freakingly childish. The game needs more darker and humourous atmosphere.

Yeah i mainly played it for the ship combat, towns and such aren't great looking, pirate island should look more grim, darker & dangerous.

Now i'm busy with HL2 so haven't played it for over a week.

The island melee combat is good, somewhat difficult but manageble but boarding ships is crazy once you go for the 10 vs 10 battles. I mean, 9 pirates just rush you and theres no way of surviving that unless you have more backup.

But at the same time it makes since you have to plan when to board the enemy.
