Post slowdown
ok, my old pc would SEEM to suffer from a serious framerate hit when fighting a dragon. it was fine any other time but in that situation.

my new pc is a 64 3400+, with a new gen gfx card and 1 gig of ram. it shreads soa. but i'm still getting slowdown fighting dragons.

anyone got any ideas? it CANNOT be a low framerate on this settup.

the only real changes are that i'm playing at an unsupported resolution of 1024 x 780 and the frame rate is set to 45, were it is normally 30.(although i had this problem at 800 x 600)

any ideas?

I always have massive slowdowns when fighting dragons. My pc is not as new as yours, but everything in BGII goes easily except dragons.

Bizarro...I wouldn't know either, but I haven't been fiddling around with the unsupported modes myself. But if you also encounter it at 800x600 it's prolly not it anyway. Sorry, can't help ya bJ. :(

Welcome to my world, well of course my pc is just crap compared to yours so i know why it happens, but dragons often seem to slow things down. If you don`t feel like toying around with all the settings, which are all minor things and won`t help much i think, i would suggest to learn to live with it. I think i haven`t fought a dragon in full speed yet.

Btw are you sure it`s not your sound that causing the problem? Just read this article and sound could cause problems it seems: http://forums.bioware.com/viewtopic.htm ... 5&forum=10

Intersting, thanks for that link, i'll go back to the nasty 800 x 600. the sound is onboard 7.1, i'll mess with the settings, see what works.unlike the thread its only the dragons, but its worth trying.

well, i've gone back to 800 x 600, which is highly sucking, but playing through again, but it'll be a day or so until i reach a dragon. i'll save a different game and just keep messing with the settings until it comes up ok.

i'll let you know how it goes anyway.

first time ever playing as a multi druid/fighter because i didn't want jaheria but wanted the druid spells. quite fun really. imagine its easily soloable with this chr..

Oh yeah, fighter/druids are very versatile. Especially when they get the elemental transformation. I soloed an avenger once, and that went pretty smooth. (up to the endfight :/ ) the elemental transformations can transform you into uber-melee chars, pretty neat. Anyway, have fun and I hope you don't encounter any more probs.
