Found my first green today! It doesn't look like the most awesome one ever, but hey. It's a focus item:
Something for my mesmer char, I guess. I have a hard time judging stats on caster items, what would you guys say? Average, good, 1337?

lol...she can borrow it until the weekend at least, when Pev comes back. I'll probably won't really use my mesmer char before she gets back anyway.

what, does everyone have a freakin' mesmer now? Jeez...mesmer's like the redheaded stepchild. Noone likes mesmers (except for backfire and echo, which can go with a mes secondary).

Heh, are they that disliked? Sux0rs. Nevertheless, I'll stick to my char..I like playing obscure characters. And then attempt to make them work and prove everyone wrong....or something.
Come to think of it, I've hardly ever seen a primary mesmer in GW. Ooh wait, I'm not a primary mesmer...I'm an ele/mesmer (for the energy storage). So I'll be popular after all...yay, run to me n00b friends that I have never spoken before!

yea, you will be popular. Primary mesmers are rare. Necro primaries aren't all that popular either, actually. :p But I think I've proven their utility.
Actually, ranger primaries are pretty unpopular also, except for trapping.
I think the problem is that people don't know how to play those classes properly. I've shown that a necro can totally own. A properly played ranger or mes can probably do the same. However, it's easy to play a monk, warrior, or ele...healing monks, there are no alternatives. Warriors are supposed to take damage. And for ele, basically play fire ele and just pack in the massive damage spells.
Playing the lesser-used sub-profs, though, takes work. Like protection or smiting monk. Or water/air/earth eles are also rare. With warrior...well...even though I finished as a hammer warrior, I think sword is probably best, since you get the armor bonus from the shield. After all, you're just supposed to act as a wall, not actually damage stuff. :p

In PvE, sword is definitely the best in the high-level areas. There's room for play in the less challenging ones. In PvP or GvG, sword is pretty much useless...(good) opponents don't target you anyway, and hammers are especially nice to knock down and disrupt casters.
And I agree on there just not being many ppl playing it right. If I look at the mesmer skills, and think of the mesmers I've been up against, I know that they are a good class. I find mesmers one of the hardest classes to fight, by far. Same with necros, if they have a tough set of skills.
I'm gonna own with my big-ass energy storage mesmer.

There are some Halloween niceties in GW now...took some pics, check it out. They are from Drok's, Lion' Arch and The tomb of fallen kings (top PVP area, basically). The white 'smears' in the middle pic are ghostly floating figures.

Makes you kinda wonder what they're gonna do for Christmas. Or Kwanza. :p

hehe....we completed thunderhead keep yesterday and ran through the ember camp deal. So yea, we're really to screw some shit up. I'm thinking about switching my build to a curses necro, though...there are some really nice curses out there. :p
I need to do the boss run around ember again, though. So many good bosses, so few capture sigs.

k....we've made it a bit further. We're at Abaddon's mouth now...shiny's mesmer is up to level 16 and has completed most of the missions we kinda skipped. :p I kinda wouldn't mind pushing the mesmer up to Abaddon's, since a mes is quite handy...but anyway....doing good all around. Once we've all beat the shit out of this game, we can do UW/FoW/SF. heheh....then the really hard stuff starts.

heh well if Mole joins us now we're all at Abbadons, I might use my mesmer skills while he does the ranger thing. When me and ox were farming sorrows furnace, me going all mesmer went pretty well, so could well try it again for this mission. 2 rangers and only henchies hasn't been working too well at abbadons so a ranger, a mes and all you guys might

hehe....awesome. Ranger, mes, tank, necro and ele/war/monk (Shiny)...we've got a good basic group. Wonder if we'll need human monk/ele or could just use henchies though!
In the meantime I'm waiting for the Mad King to arrive in LA...bastard should hurry up, it's time for some ass-whoopin'!!

what happened with the mad king? Anything yet?
Anyway...yea...total pwnage. If those lazy brits would actually come and play with us (MOLE!) rather than getting pwnd in FEAR or whatever. :p Anyway...yes...we have the makings for a really good team for the final missions. And even for UW and FoW. Of course, once we finish the game I can switch to any of my other chars too, so that'll really improve our selection.
Shiny and I could both go ele, for instance...
