 Far Cry
K, been playing this for a while now, and I'm very much impressed by it, graphically speaking. The rest is ok too, but the graphics rock beyond comparison. Very nicely done.
Anyone else had the pleasure of playing it so far?

K, none of you bitches replied yet, so i suppose no one plays it; but just to say that it rocks even more after playing it some more. It's super-freaky-scary atm, that game scared the crap outta me a few times already. Which is nice. Only crap thing can be the check-point save system. Wtf was that necessary for. Methinks they'll replace it soon.
Ah, and because i'm just that great a kinda guy, i will translate an interesting short interview on S.T.A.L.K.E.R. soon and post it here, prolly tomorrow. I rock.

I can't wait till STALKER comes out.
Far Cry, eh? Quick synopsis so I don't have to look it up?
Mainly playing Battlefield: Vietnam still. Dominating bitches, of course. Also trying to finish up IGI 2. That game is...erm...not all that good. I just figured I must be close to the end, so I might as well finish it, eh?

Yeah, stalker is looking pretty cool.
Far Cry is basically the first of the next generation shooters. And it's mighty fucking impressive, especially the outside settings are unseen. The game's set on a group of tropical islands, so you get white beaches, jungle areas, deep blue water...beautiful.
There are cool real physics, and the AI..wow. They look for (decent) cover, they jump into jeeps, boats, empty gunner posts and what have you, they sound alarms, they run off yelling "i'll get the others" while you're being under suppressing fire by two of his mates (at which i obviously shoot the guy who was running for backup in the back), and more...
for example, when they hide behind a pillar to reload, i run over to there and turn around the corner and expect a stupid AI standing there ready to be shot, but guess again, they just run around the pillar just like you, so you end up running circles and in front of his (reloaded) gun. The only real problem i have with the AI is that they sometimes aim a bit a too good. lol. Another thing: since you didn't really expect getting involved in major gunfights on a tropical island, you're wearing a red hawaï shirt, making you an easily spotted target when swimming underwater or walking in the jungle, but if you wear a kevlar the AI will have a much harder time spotting you.
There's often more than one way to get things done on the outside maps, feels very "free". Your objective is your objective of course, but if you choose to whack just about everything or alternatively try to sneak past everyone thru the jungle, is entirely up to you. The inside maps are cool as well, but because the outside ones are so fantastic you usually can't wait to get out again lol.
Also, I'm "only" playing on "medium" graphical settings and it's superb, "high" was not very smooth for my pc. And there's still "very high". And a seperate patch that will reflect the entire landscape in the water... that's only for MONSTER pc's though.
Needless to say, this game got me going big time, and you should get it, ASAP. The only "annoying" thing about it is that a)it's hard, even on an average setting and b)the savepoint system. But the latter will be patched, i suppose. (rather, I hope)
If all my blabbing didn't convince anyone yet; check out these clips:

The screenshots on the official site don't really reflect the entire feel of the game imho, so i'm not posting any.
P.S. what's your fav class in BF: Vietnam? Engineer rocks, imho.

game sounds really good. I may give that a shot in a little while. I still have a bunch of other games to play first.
BF...Americans I like the M60 guys with grenade launcher (uber class), I also like the M16 w/grenade launcher. I like snipers on both sides. Then on the vietnamese side, I like RPG the best. They have a decent rifle, and the RPG is obviously pretty cool. Engineers are neat because of the mortars and landmines and stuff, but of limited use IMO.

hehe...helicopters are the only reason I like the SA7 guys on the Vietnamese side. It feels so good to blast one of those bitches out of the sky.

lol, it's surface-to-air if i'm not mistaken.
All those bitch-ass heli's must die yeah. Little wusses are too afraid to engage mano-a-mano erh..
Man, i like Far Cry more every time i play it...like, last time i had to blow up a radar station, but because i was low on health i didn't engage all the enmies outside of it and just went straight inside to blow that shit up. Now, while i was in a firefight with those guys outside there was one of them that called for backup, and just as i ran inside there arrived a 4x4 jeep with some 3-4 guys in it. I plant the explosivesn grab some health and kevlar and run back out, guns blazing, but as the antenna explodes behind me it's top part falls down, on the guys' 4x4 , which explodes and kills just about everyone of them near it in the blast! Man, i loooove true physics. Another one: i was doing some jungle-road high-speed chasing in a 4x4, with two guys riding on my tail. They're hitting me pretty bad and i can't seem to shake them off so i decided to drive off the cliff and jump out of the car before it hits the water. It works, but just as i'm diving to the surface again, the jeep that was chasing me comes crashing down from the cliff as well, something i didn't quite expect hehe. Unlike me however, they stayed IN the car while riding of the cliff, so when they hit the bottom with their jeep it exploded and they both died, suckas!
I love this game...nothing like sniping a patrol boat's gunner and driver while lying prone in the bushes on a small island, then swim over to the boat, say hello to the floating bodies and claim the boat, faring off into the sunset.
Met some scary stuff today...some things that seemed to be invisible during the first few seconds, but get this: they're fast, have a good melee punch and fire friggin' P90's. So, after my first encounter i was like constantly using my thermal/night vision, in order to spot them while they're invisble (very predator-ish that), but those damn things only work for 1 minute long, and recharge quite slow. Scared to death twice i think.
Also, lots of fighting going on between the AI, which is really cool, and gives an excellent display of their non-scripted priority-choosing. Oh, and there are these elite mercenaries that have full boyd armor, and are a real problem to kill. With a shotgun it's doable (everything is ), but i have been known to spray an entire assualt rifle from poinbt blank on some guys kevler. And the worst part is, you can see the bullets not protruding but coming off his armor too, kinda disappointing. You've got to shoot them in the face in order to get them down quicly, more or less.
Sorry for this ranting guys, but this game is EXCELLENT. Get it, quick! (if your pc is up to it)
i took some screenies but can't find them anywhere. Stupid explorer.
P.S. if you're on a small island, the AI will even fire a flare in the sky in order to call for a heli or some patrol boats. Wicked.

I'm always 2-3 years behind, but a new monster-computer so that i can play these games is on my list. Now i'll have to try to get it on my gf's list, that's the high-priority list obviously.
And stop telling us these stories ox, my keyboard is already covered with drool. Lots of drool.

Lol, aight, sorry. Btw J, you could build a monster PC relatively cheap by recycling parts like screens, HD's, keyboards, cd-roms etc..my pc cost some 400€ and is pretty rockin', if i may say so myself.
BJ, if it weren't for the fact that i have it on DVD but no writer it might have erh, dropped out of the sky. Sorry mate. Did you get a new gfx card yet btw?
