Post Nostalgia
So, for some odd reason I had an urge to go back in time. I was remembering all the great times I had as a kid playing my nintendo, super nintendo, Sega ect. So I found this site. www.coolrom.com. They have a list of Emulators and a tons of ROMS. A emulator is some software that can be run on your computer(through a USB stick too) and emulates a console system like the original Nintendo. A ROM is a file that the emulator runs that is the game. Let me tell, this is the most awesome thing ever. The best NES emulator is Nestopia, http://nestopia.sourceforge.net/. I even bought a Logitech USB controller(with a gift card I had) and its just so cool. I been playing old NES games like Tecmo Bowl, Punch out, Metroid, Mega Man, Metal Gear, etc. One of the best features on the emulators is the ability to save states so instead of having to redo levels all over you just save the state right there.

I just got done beating Metroid and it was fun. Now playing Castlevania. It amazing how simple yet frustrating some of these game mechanics are and how much skills I have lost on the controller verse keyboard and mouse.

This site has a good list of what they consider top 100 NES games. http://www.sydlexia.com/top100nes.htm They also have one for top 100 SUPERNES.

That is all.

I missed out on NES. I was a MegaDrive boy. I'm kinda half tempted myself now to get some of the old classics + controller and relive some of the glory. Probably mainly in EA Ice Hockey

I missed out on the NES, SNES, Megadrive and Saturn. :?

My parents refused to buy me anything after the Atari 2600 which was glorious but not enough to compete with the "next gen" consoles. :P Then I found the PC, and I never looked back.

Bleh, my parents were bastards too. Atari 2600, then PC... I think I got myself a Genesys, then a PS1. Now I have a Wii (which is really Shiny's) and a 360.

I love Shadowrun for the Genesys. One of the best games of all time.

Is the modern game Shadowrun a "remake"? Or does it have nothing to do with it and happen to have the same name?

It was a bastardization of the Shadowrun universe. Shadowrun was actually a table top game (of the D&D type). The Genesys game was a really great video game adoption. Think BG1. The more recent MS game was a bastardization along the lines of Dungeon Siege or something similarly brainless, impotent and smelly.

I've played my share of ROMs during the past years as well. Still have a lot of Zelda games on this pc (NES - SNES - N64 - Gameboy). And about a year ago i played Metroid as well.

Still need to finish Rygar. That game was impossible on NES: i spent hours and hours to try to complete it. And when you died you were basically screwed because you lost all powers you picked up. So one ill-timed jump and your hours of work were waisted. Frustrating game. Oh, i forgot to mention that there was no way to save the game right. :D

Love ROMs though. I think i played most (if not all) of the Final Fantasy games as well.

YES! Rygar was a bitch but fun. I played all those games and love them. You guys that missed out on games like Zelda really missed. I recommend going back and playing those games.

2 other games I loved. Deadly Towers and Faxanadu. Play alot of Sonic and Joe Montana's sports talk football on sega and loves Phantasy Star.

Downloaded Deadly Towers and Faxanadu. Don't know the first one, the second name i remember from seeing it in a game magazine, about 20 years ago. :P

I'm using Jnes for NES games btw. If anyone is interested i can try to find the Zelda pack again. Could be it comes from thepiratebay (the more i think about it the more probable it is). It includes an emulator for nes, snes, gameboy and N64 so it's handy if you're planning to play other games.
