Impulse buy alert - Impulse buy alert- Impulse buy alert - Impulse buy alert Impulse buy alert ![]() Just spotted this on Steam and im downloading it now. Can't wait to crack it open... For £9.00 i can't go very wrong. I kinda fell in love with the graphics from the screenshots. It looks fairly detailed too. And the theme I quite like ... medieval empire building and management. I'll let you guys know if it's any good. The screens look pretty good, and from the reviews I found it's supposed to be a more than decent game too. Who you playing as? |

Byzantium! ![]() Anyhow, i've played more of this game and i'm starting to geta grasp of how it works. My Byzantine campaign is going quite well. I've extended my empire into Bulgaria/Serbia and now just finished grabbing 1/3rd of the North africa from the Fatimids. The game very much reminds me of Total War series games. Let me put it into context for you ... You know like in Total War you have the campaign mode and battle mode. Campaign mode is somewhat sucky and shallow wouldn't you say? Well, Knights of Honor is like an inverted version of Total War. Campaign mode is more detailed and clever system than TW, but the battle mode is not so good. The game manages to put greater emphasis on the following aspects compared to TW: - Logistics: Army stacks march on their stomachs which will need restocking regularly. Lose right of how much food your stack has, and it will likely disband / rebel. The mobility of a stack is much less so than TW, so you need to think carefully where you station your stacks. Ports are goddamn essential as ships travel much faster than marching armies. - Politics Politics are rather more complex and clever than in TW. The populace does not like being at war, so if you dont finish wars quickly, you will start to suffer REAL popular problems. Relations with other nations is really important. If you act like a dick (cancel / re-asrrange treaties carelessly), your "Kingdom Power" drops because you look dishonourable. Kingdom Power is essentially overall influence. Heirs and management of your dynasty is vital. The populace want stability and are very pissed off if you dont maintain cross nation marriages, offspring and decent heirs. Building is generally more ramped up for managing trade, rather than war. .... So all in all still quite fun. My main gripe at the moment is that all the other kingdoms seem to be having big problems with rebellion. The world outside of my empire generally looks pretty chaotic, perhaps too chaotic. Essentially this makes it easier morally and militarily for me to expend my empire, i just dont want it to become too easy. So for now, Byzantium marches on! |

Is there a difficulty setting? If so, you playing at normal? i'd imagine the AI would suck less at managing his own population on higher difficulties. |
